Man main dealer parts

what are man main dealer parts like price wise in comparison to other makes I deal with a few around north west and am shocked at some of the prices they are coming back with

front caliper £845
throttle sender unit £550 for an f2000
red air line £65
sump for ■■■■■■■ engine £2000 to be fair ■■■■■■■ part but same part £500 cheaper through daf
injector £350

had a few dealings with Iveco who seemed ok for what I got off them which to be fair wasn’t a lot and daf who appear ok for what what ive had off them so far ! I can get the parts through other sources but they seem to be way out on some parts

some of the parts are expensive compared to other makes, but, some are quite a bit cheaper too

firstly, why would you pay MAN £65 for a red air line :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

go to your local parts supplier, they will be around £10 to £15

there is an MAN specialist truck breaker in Merry Lees, Leicestershire, can help with most parts, either new or good used

that’s the price of the airline needed one asap different ends on your bog standard air line that I did have that wouldn’t fit was a one off desperate buy I no the parts supplier you are on about pretty good to deal with jakes helpful

yes, the MAN air line has different ends, but, you can still get them from a normal parts factors, get a couple in as a stock item and keep one of each in the cab locker, and don’t forget the spanners

I changed the fitment ends for both airlines where it comes out behind the cab, and just your bog standard coils fit it now, parts to make the change were less than a fiver per truck, and dont know rely on the more expensive coils.

what are they like for parts in comparison to other makes in general

Scania parts seem cheap to me in relation to AG machinery parts. £68 per axle for brake pads, £20 for wipers, rear light cluster unit £58

Try IMEX for MAN parts 08456050404, deliveries to you twice a day.

Deliver twice a day nationwide ■■

£65 is still way too much for a red airline, I declined to buy one from my local main dealer (Renault) just last weekend because they wanted £32 for it, they are £12 at Chippenham truckstop complete with adaptors.

thanks harry I am interested in what they are like parts price wise to other makes rather than spurious parts you can get cheaper from different places I found 65 quid to be a joke and made it known but what can you do sometimes needs must I’d like to hear of some other parts people have bought or what there like in comparison if they run a mixed fleet.

Lee, most of the time, the parts you buy from spurious suppliers, such as HGV Direct, Digraph and the like, are usually made by the same company that makes the original equipment for the dealers

eg., i can get a clutch slave cylinder for the DAF XF ZF 16 speed manual transmission from DAF, in a box marked as DAF for £400 plus surcharge as it is an exchange item

or

i can go to HGV direct and get an aftermarket clutch slave cylinder for the same truck for £200 no surcharge, not exchange item

take them both out of the box, they are identical, made by the same company, even has the company name embossed on the item

the moral of the story is, ask them how much it is without the box that says DAF on it

another one, load sensing valve for the XF, in a DAF box £400, in a plastic bag from HGV direct, £195, both items made by Wabco

thanks shuttle I no what you mean am just purely interested in what the main dealers are charging and some examples as harry said £32 for a red airline from Renault half the price of the man part and some other examples like yours of some main dealer prices

OK, someone posted recently that they needed a needed a new seat belt for a Scania Topliner and it was £530, I asked Renault how much a new seat belt would be for my Magnum and it was £159.

shuttle, I know its not in your area but a local supplier to us JC COMMERCIAL will cut your £195 hgv direct price down to iro£145

hgv direct started out many moons ago just up the road from us, due to little competition they have had things their way for far to long, many local hauliers now shop with other commercial vehicle parts suppliers when ever possible!

to be fair Moose, i don’t use them that much these days

i was just using them as an example from prices that i remember from a few years ago

the prices quoted for the DAF part and the HGV Direct part are actual prices for the same part made by the same company that make the OE part

literally, the only difference is the packaging

to be fair Moose, (i don’t use them that much these days)

this is a statement I hear often!

don’t get me wrong, it’s not on the pricing, it is more out of convenience

Likewise for a caliper, £630 service exchange rear axle caliper from a Merc Dealer, £315 service exchange from my local NETS, and probably the same Haldex unit used by MAN.

After a lot of digging around today, I found the water leak on our yard spare, a 2003 TGA. It’s in the EGR heat exchanger, evidenced by some white emulsion sludge on the exhaust gas exit from the HE.

My boss phoned Imex to get a price for a new one, to get told that they can’t supply, it’s a main dealer part. So he phoned the main dealer.

£3000! For a ■■■■■■■ pipe inside a bigger pipe! The unit isn’t worth that much FFS.

Going to have a closer look tomorrow to see if there’s any sort of repair than we can do, but otherwise it’ll have to live with it - it only does short runs, and will have to be topped up regularly until it dies a death.
