No that’s always been the typical tactics of the strike breakers over the years rather than intelligent debate.

To someone who has driven an artic through an illegal picket line designed to stop workers carrying out their legitimate work inside a factory with the full backing of their Trade Union I find your words highly offensive.

i was delivering raw material that had come from a factory within the Uk that had no dispute to a factory employing 2,000 workers who had no dispute. What I did was to keep them and 200 of my company’s workforce in work and able to adequatly feed their families, and for your information all workers involved were paid well over the average wages and working conditions were excellent.

Well “stevecooke” I suspect you are right there unless of course the barmaid had her ■■■■’s hanging out, than everybody would be discussing them if I know truck drivers. I once attended a function as I was invited by a mate and it turned out to be a Conservative party do, we were there for the beer with our respective wives who gathered in a circle chatting away, us boys were at the bar minding our own when Mrs T turned up as she was guest speaker at the event, she was presented to varied conservative hierarchy and then she broke away from the chap marshalling her about and came and talked to us much to his annoyance she shook us all by the hand and asked what we all did for a living I for one am pleased I met her at close court, I think she was a great leader for this country and she did what she said she would without deviation. It has been stated that she broke the unions on this thread and I for one would not have joined a union had I not have been forced to do so to enable me to load in the docks in the course of my work, that is why I am pleased to have met her in person and shook her hand and I feel proud that I did a great Lady indeed, Buzzer.

I watched some old lorry videos last night. Whoops, taken the thread off topic.

Were they racing past strikeing miners full off coal?
They seem to every time they show they show the miners on TV

You are all aware she left power ages ago?
We’ve had Labour in power since she went.
Why didn’t they re-open the mines and invest in industry?
Foden, ERF,Rover,Rolls Royce, Bently & Land Rover all went under Labours stewardship.
That well known trade unionist Lord Prescott dealt with the firemen and Liverpool dockers pretty ruthlessly.
Remember Chumba Wumba throwing a bucket of water over over him at the Brit’s and singing New Labour betrayed the dockers and they’ll betray Britain they got that right.
There was an old boy yesterday on the TV moaning she’d killed the town pointing to empty houses and how she’d sold of all the council houses so the kids couldn’t get them.
It would appear Labour forgot to invest in their core communities as well.
Mind I’m sure when she planned it she didn’t expect Labour to extend and invite to the world to arrive here and expect a house
If Cameron had any balls he’d call on Labour to pay for the funeral they planned.
I’m sure the thought of trade union contributions to her funeral would send her off with a smile on her face.

Even Kinock called Scargill and the strike idiocy the other night.
No Ballet and in spring after warning he was going to do it so hey could build stocks up.
Not very clever comrade.

BTW the £10 Million would have been spent on police and low paid council workers.
The Forces were getting paid anyway
Bit of extra for low paid workers and the police so not to bad.

As to the hunger strikers
Do you think when they catch the Boston Bomber President Obama will shed tears if he refuses his 3 square a day?

The fact that Labour didn’t reverse Thatcher’s economic policies, ( in fact under Callaghan’s term of leadership it actually introduced them ),together with previous examples of supporting retrograde policies in terms of workers terms and conditions in the early 20th century,is just proof that there is no such thing as a Labour Party. So there isn’t much point in using failed Labour Party policies to justify the same failed Tory ones.

The difference is Scargill had an excuse for being a bit tactically naive/stupid whereas all those Tories ( champaigne socialists ),dressed up as Labour Party MP’s didn’t,being that they were tactically aware at the top levels of government who knew exactly what they were doing,in standing on a ‘supposed’ Labour Party electoral mandate, which they had no intention whatsoever of honouring.

Meanwhile the real enemy in the Chinese and North Korean military gets ever stronger on the money earn’t from it’s exports in the global free market economy which Thatcher and Reagan sold us out to while the British and US Forces get ever weaker because of defence cuts caused by the loss of British industry and lack of economic growth. What goes around comes around eventually.Which is probably why the Tory tossers don’t seem quite so keen in facing down a real threat that’s a bit stronger than a few Spanish conscripts. No surprise considering the possibility of British troops in Police uniforms knocking zb out of their fellow countrymen just for trying to defend their living standards in 1984 and the fact that British troops did exactly that in 1926. :unamused:

Agree with you Buzzer sir. This country was born on the back of hard work.As most who have run and still run a business, the employees are an integral part of its success.Unfortunatly union leadership tend not to recognise this, our goals as employers are the goals of our employees.Im sure if they had understood this they would have taken over the mining industry and made a success of it.Tower Colliery miners put there redundancy, into there mine and became part of the open market, the same as the haulage industry.Guess what. They made it work and made money. This is fact,Harold Wilson PM 1965-1970 closed 211 mines.Margaret Thatcher PM 1979-1990 closed 154 mines. Labour closed more mines in 5yrs than she did in 11yrs.A woman leading a man`s world. No wonder the unions and labour through all their toys out of the pram.

BS.This country would be where it was in the 1920’s/30’s if wasn’t for the efforts of British trade unions over the years.Which probably explains the present state of it’s economy. You still seem to be missing the point that, just like her sidekick Reagan, she won and smashed the power of the unions so where’s the promised land.

You seem to be living in the 18th century.Unions have there place in history. I think you need to check out those economic figures as they were where the economy stood in 1972 as to where it stands now.Although it’s obvious that anyone with a Tory view of economics wouldn’t understand the importance of figures like economic growth, trade deficits, balance of payments and resulting national debts, and the value of the pound v hard currencies like the Swiss Franc.

But what can you expect from a shop keepers daughter and her followers like Osborne who wouldn’t understand all that and the connection to a country’s industrial strength including strong unions keeping wage levels high enough to keep spending power and disposable incomes high. :unamused:
