Why are we a laughing stock, yes we have a constant terrorist threat, but then we seem to have had that since the 1970’s at least, and I would say France has had far worse problems with Terrorism in recent years and many other countries have had terrorist attacks or are under threat.
All the developed World has a problem with illegal immigrants they cut fences to get into the USA every night and they land on shores of Italy, Greece and Spain. There also millions camped out in refugee camps in countries that border the Worlds trouble spots, some of them have been there for decades.
I would agree though when they sneak into this Country we have no idea who they, where they’ve gone to and what they’re up to.

Ahh., the majority of them are young men not women and kids though, if you had witnessed them trying to board trucks first hand you would know that, so don’t use the lame women and kids line,
The British army should be sent to bolster our borders in France at the train and ferry ports , they could then search every truck /van as well as help secure the tunnel , they should also have cctv or spotters at Folkstone so any illegals on roofs of trailers can be reported to security and the truck stopped before it gets onto the motorway and the illegals found deported to outside the train terminal or handed to the French police,
If we took the stance of returning all of them to France or other last known country , do you not think that those countries would start to secure their borders too ?
It’s not rocket science that it we who are their chosen target can start this chain of events , We should also pull our navy from this rescue mission, in the med, or start returning them to the shores they departed from , if not known then make an educated guess

The fact is the security agencies have DNA and language tests amongst others to determine place of origin with at least sufficient accuracy to know wether they are North/Central etc African or Middle Eastern/Far Eastern Asian.While even a general description is usually enough in that regard.In which case no one is saying that they have to be sent back with an accuracy to the mile.

The sniffer dogs are bloody good at finding them buried deep inside trucks, I know as I’ve seen it happen, the problem is there aren’t enough dog teams to check the trucks.
last time I went through the the border agency had 6 checking bays and only one team working with the dog, the dog found immigrants hiding in a truck that they’d already checked and removed a load of them in a previous check.
If they had a dog team for each bay it would be far more efficient and they could check far more trucks. The truck roofs can be check easily by somebody walking up a set of steps while the truck is in the bay.
Good job the tunnel wasn’t built 80 years ago. Can you imagine the sheer difficulty the Germans would have had?

The obvious question is why wasn’t the navy given those orders from day 1 and where is the confirmation of the change in those orders now since Cameron’s supposed ‘change’ in policy regards the repatriation question.

What do you suggest we blow it up and stop all trade with Europe as they have been known to get on trucks heading for ferry ports as well.

I would suggest most of Europe would like to have the border controls we still have.
The ‘border controls’ we have actually mean that anyone can arrive here and claim ‘asylum support’ benefits on the basis of if they can do whatever it takes to get in they can most likely stay.
Its a matter of opinion how effective our borer control is. Plenty of drugs and counterfeit products seem to get through no problem as well as illegal immigrants.
As for blowing the tunnel up, we seemed to manage ok before it was built. In the mean time, as tommyt said, simply send soldiers over to Calais.

Why do we need our forces on French territory who’d have no more,probably less,of a remit to do anything different to the French security agencies anyway.The real question is when and where are the the orders for the French forces to start rounding up the immigrants and then deporting them from France to their places of origin.In handcuffs if needed.Bearing in mind the information contained in the start of the topic and Telegraph article.
The French security agencies could not give a flying f*ck about us, so in answer to your question, I would expect our armed forces would be a tad more diligent. Equally, if being posted on French soil creates too many problems, at least put some soldiers into our own ports. My understanding is that our border control people are woefully under staffed.
I agree with you CF about the reasons why these people want to come here. Until we make it a pointless exercise coming here, obviously the queue will continue to grow.

All should hang their heads in shame.we as drivers who have witnessed what’s happened over the years have been ignored and not supported.
