Minibus from South Elmsall - Hen Party travelling to Liverpool.

R.I.P.

Lgv and minibus on a hen party on BBC. 1 woman dead

Daf CF farmfoods wagon has collided with a Mercedes mini bus.

The Farmfoods lorry is upright and looks as though he has been traveling in lane 2. The rear of the trailer is in lane 2 but is angled so the unit is in lane 1 with damage to the front. In front of it is a trailer with the towbar in the hard shoulder area and the rear in lane 1. It does look as though the hgv has hit the trailer, which is the kind towed by such minibuses when carrying luggage.

The minibus is in the exit slip laying on its offside. There are skid marks from the minibus showing it left the motorway and down the embankment. There is extensive damage to the OSR. It looks likely that the trailer belongs to the minibus. It isn’t obvious if there is a car involved.

One woman is dead and 25 injured, 6 serious.

Stan

It hasn’t hit a trailer. It’s a mobile screen.

That van must surely have been near stationary and the truck near top speed with that level of crumple and panel damage, looks very similar levels of damage to hard shoulder swipes to me, nasty indeed :frowning:

More carnage on the roads and again an LGV involved. From the video here it is fairly obvious who has hit who.

Just showed you above the scene and it looks like the Farmfoods truck has been overtaking the minibus as he’s parked across lanes 2 and 1 and it looks to me he’s pulled back into lane 1 too early hitting the minibus and sending it rolling down the banking onto the exit slip road for the Pontefract junction. It’s coming across the bottom of the screen both Sky News and BBC News 24 that its a single fatality a woman and the truck driver has been arrested. I wonder if the Hen party were wearing their seatbelts? I’ve been in minibuses many a time and no one has been wearing theirs, me included

I was there as it happened

I was there as it happened

So what happened?

Is it me or has the chassis on that daf completely snapped?

I thought a car was involved also - no mention of it now though

So a bunch of women, on their way to enjoy a night out, or weekend away, when a truck ploughs into them, killing 1, and injuring a lot more, god bless them and their families. It was said in an earlier post, that it looked like the truck was at maximum speed, whilst the minibus was going at slow speed, we can all make assumptions, but the lorry driver was arrested at the scene ( care of AOL news ) but looking at the cab, it looks like its been pushed back towards the rear, and off of its mountings, and the rear of the minibus is also very badly pushed inwards, only the police will eventually know what exactly happened, in my mind, it looks to me like the ( local ) driver, had a lapse of concentration, and ploughed at speed into the back of the trailer, being towed by the minibus, but thats only an opinion.
