Was anyone else caught out during the night there?
02:30am on my merry way up the M62 just gone past jct26 started going up the incline and where the 26 slip joins up to the 62 it came to a halt, only 3 cars in front of me one in each lane as I approached when the Police flagged me down to say there had just in the past 2mins been an “incident” further ahead and they were trying to sort it as quick as they could so I could be on my way…
More traffic started piling up behind me, put myself straight onto break & rang the office to tell them tell everyone else to get off at jct25 for Brighouse and make their way around it. Noticed the opposite side was closed as well I thought it must be a serious crash of some sort, the traffic officer was keeping quite tight lipped about what had gone on to everyone then after an hour they got everybody on the 26 slip road to turn back around and go back to the bottom of the junction then finally let me swing round and go down it myself, as I passed the officer I stopped and asked if the accident had been serious and if the road would be closed till the morning when he said “we are dealing with an incident on one of the bridges”
So all that delay was due to some numbskull probably bladdered wanting his back rubbed and to be told “there there it will all be ok” bloody attention whores. It would of been worth him jumping just to be justified holding everyone up for no good reason.

You don’t know what sort of state the poor sod was in how would you feel if your whole world had just been taken from you , wife, kids etc wiped out . remember when you got home everyone your world revolves around were safely tucked up in bed dreaming of postman pat and the telly tubbies …
Unless you’ve been there don’t judge others , I know I’ve been in that state of mind fella and I don’t mind admitting it…
I was stuck in an even flimsier queue last night. M6 northbound between 5 and 6. Coned off down to 1 lane but the numpty chucking the cones out was doing it from the 1 remaining open lane instead of doing it from inside the closed lanes. So 3 lanes of traffic had to filter into 1 then sit behind a truck as they stopped every 10 yards to throw a cone on the floor.
Took me over an hour to get from the M42 to Spaghetti.
Worst thing was, the Highways Agency app said the delays were due to a breakdown closing 3 lanes. I’d love to see how someone could breakdown and close 3 lanes off.

this has happened on the M8 a few times. Hours of misery due to some inconsiderate sod thanks to the softly softly approach. Much quicker to close the motorway for 15 minutes while they push them and clean up the mess (which will still be in one piece if they close the road first)
Too right! The softly softly approach doesn’t work apart from making these losers feel better about themselves cuz nobody they actually know gives a toss cuz they were probably bored of listening to their tales of woe in the first place.
And lol at everyone who has sympathy for these time wasters!
I went other way left Manchester just after 1am was west bound I got through fine nowt to see on other side was a cop car approx 5 cars & lorry there but more running into it
Road was clear couple night earlier there had been a van fire but bit further west

if they were that serious they would just do it. They wouldn’t hang around waiting for the attention. If they really want attention then they should seek it via appropriate channels which will get people who are trained to talk to them. Not some poor sod who has to close the road so he or she can try to reason with the person who is only threatening to do themselves in. I don’t suppose the copper wants to be stuck there any more than the people stuck in the traffic jam

I was caught in the M6 lane closure and could not believe the amount of drivers using the hard shoulder instead of waiting like everyone else. Plus a few lorries were also using the dedicated hard shoulder. Just because you have to queue this does not justify an emergency use of the hard shoulder. As the hard shoulder ran out, then they wondered why nobody was willing to let them in. Even more worrying than the lorries was a driving instructor happily bimbling down the hard shoulder.
SCANNY77 Would you still be of the same opinion if the person on the bridge was one of your FAMILY ?. You are obviously one of the keyboard
PRINT before you THINK brigade. Never ever think you will never be in a situation like that life takes some hellish twists and turns and even you could
A few months ago there was some loon threatening to jump off the QE11 bridge so the road traffic was stopped but they also closed the river to shipping while said incident was ongoing. I was going upriver at the time and if they had said where he was standing I could have moved out of his trajectory to allow him unimpeded access to the water …
Another loser early last night screwing over 100’s of motorists on the M62 jct 22-23 “threatening” to jump off a bridge again unless someone would dry his tears and tell him that “everything will be alright” and “he has so much to live for”. It’s getting beyond a joke now, why can’t they just take an overdose at home without bothering anybody else.
The police should put all the held up motorists names into a hat then the lucky person who’s name gets picked out gets to Taser the attention ■■■■■ off the bridge to end it for them.
Opinions here seem to be very black and white about mental illness. And those who say push the poor bugger obviously have no concept or understanding of it.
As said earlier, what if it was your loved one who was feeling hopeless and wanting to end it all?
What if your loved one had a medical condition/disorder that made them a danger to themselves?
There are many people who should be in care, that currently are not! All due to the NHS being stretched to breaking point, but don’t you think or consider them. No, just say jump you bugger!
How lucky some of you are not to be aware of the suffering of others…

It could be someone who’s lost their children (death, wife taken them, social services) and they now feel they have nothing to live for, I feel sorry for anyone in that state of mind.
Sometimes people need help and sometimes that the only way they know how to get it.
