Left hull at 1.30 . On woodhead 2 miles away from tintwistle now at 6.45. Ive had a 46 min break. From the 2 pics ive seen it looks like a truck went up the back of the tanker. Smacks volumes for lack of concentration. The chaos its caused

When I came out of New Hall nick, I saw the queue, on the A637 towards Huddersfield from M1 J38 which was rammed, especially the section after the A636 up toward Flockton, but didn`t figure out why. Oddly as AFAIK part of that road is a 7.5T limit from Flockton to Grange Moor.
But I later heard the radio and put 2+2 together and figure why it was busy

Mate of mine was sat a mile before junction 28,took him 4hours to get to ferrybridge. Lucky i was going in the other direction.

Trust the water fairies to block the only free lane :smiling_imp:

Roll on building the M628 motorway., if only

There’s enough wombles standing round doing nothing, haven’t they got another stretch of motorway with a shed load of matchsticks they could close!!!

Air ambulance was parked on t’other carriageway, so while he was there nobody was going anywhere anyway.

I’d hate to be the few drivers at the front, having to see all that cant be nice.

Better than looking at the back of a trailer in front of you for 4 hours though

No. Only Grange Moor to Flockton. It’s a bit retarded really but I’m glad trucks are allowed one way rather than not at all.

I was on a movement order with my load. The abnormal loads officer got permission for me to go from Hull via woodhead. I left Hull at 13.25pm. I parked up at Whitwood as it wasn’t worth me going any further as the order was for me to use the m62. I waited there for an hour and then got the go ahead to use woodhead. The machine was originally going to Oldham but whilst parked in whitwood things were changed as there was no way I was getting to Oldham. It took me 4hrs 23m to go from Whitwood to Liverpool. I got back to the yard near m57/m58 at 20.45pm and just on my 9 hours driving.

Can anyone tell who the Stralis that has ran up the back of the tanker belongs to ? Is it a foreign truck ?

All I can say is that that 1 incident caused absolute chaos and must have affected over 100,000 people today. According to BBC Leeds radio he tanker was empty. It had been carrying flammable liquid which was an irritant (hence the ADR plates showing).

I feel sorry for them poor people who live anywhere between the end of the m67 and 10 miles across woodhead. That’s 3 times in the last fortnight I have seen tailbacks stretching for miles on that road. Luckily that was the only time I got stuck as I was going against the traffic the other times ! If ever a bypass is needed then it is definately for Tintwistle.

looks like an arcese truck

The accident, involving a lorry, a tanker and a third vehicle, occurred on the eastbound carriageway. Police also closed the westbound section just after lunchtime to allow an air ambulance to land. The driver of the tanker had to be freed from his cab with specialist equipment.

they have that arse first surely, the tanker cab looks undamaged

An empty tanker potentially is far more dangerous than a full tanker in many respects if I recall my ADR correctly, vapours being more dangerous than the fuel itself.

It’s a car drivers fault, there you go investigation over, lets get back to work…

Big thumbs up for the truckers, ruining another weekend for the masses :unamused:
