M62 hen party crash :both drivers charged

@ albion1971

That article does not seem to back up your claims that hands free should be banned.

In fact it seems to show that the people who claim that hands free is unreasonably risky are completely ignoring the facts, clearly any communication device is unreasonably distracting for some people, some people can’t concentrate on one thing let alone two, but the facts seem to indicate that most people are capable of using hands free communication devices without having accidents.

“Distracted driving is a big problem on the road, but it has always been a big
problem, even before cellphones and other electronic devices came along,” said
Russ Rader, a spokesman for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. "Even so,
researchers expected to see a wave of crashes as electronic devices proliferated,
but the opposite is happening on the road: Police-reported crashes have been on
the decline."

“[However], this doesn’t mean that electronic devices aren’t distracting,” Rader said.
“Every study, including this new one, demonstrates that they are distracting. It does
mean we need to better understand how drivers are integrating these systems into
the driving task.”

edit: Actually this is way off topic for this thread.

Sorry for a moment I forgot which thread I was reading

albion1971:

big boots:
the minibus driver had a pcv licence but was only licenced to drive automatics, dont ask me how i know but it’s a fact.

the minibus was a manual.

Would you like me to prove your talking nonsense big boots?

if the source of my information is wrong all i can do is apologise to everyone on trucknet, but let’s just say i got the information first hand and not from any tabloid bull crap.it is horrible what happened and the people and parents involved will never forget it.and personally i do’nt think an automatic licence to manual would make any difference because he’d of probably drove his manual car home every night without a problem so he knew how to operate a clutch.

Could somebody explain to me WTF most of the recent comments have got to do with the OP question?

a young girl died in this collision. show some respect instead of ■■■■■■■■ to each other in this thread do it via PM.

NewLad:
I fall into the arrogant category! We can all refer to studies and reports to suit our own agenda only my story is from a more reputable media source

Also on YOUR link to some crazy inbred university study in Utah, the noticed that since electronic equipment has been used while driving accidents have DECLINED! That’s right DECLINED! Although they assure us that their study proves you are more distracted.

Horse [zb]!

Yes it does not surprise me that you fall into the arrogant category.
My link is not so crazy as you may think as you will probably find out eventually.
Try this one and if you want something British.

I really do not see any problem here. The subject of the thread is about the 2 drivers involved in the collision which is up for discussion and even discussing that is showing no disrespect to anyone.I am sure we all have the greatest respect for the innocent victim.
I am not even discussing anything to do with the accident because new lad changed the subject by bringing up an old thread.
Anyway I will suggest if new lad wants to reply we go back to the original thread for further discussion and then everyone will be happy.

and there is the problem, you two have turned it into the new lad and albion show, if your going to have a pop at each other do via PM or even (ready for this) meet up and have it out

Hung drawn and quartered are either one or both two drivers before they have even reached court without the full facts and evidence been made public the view of some of the messages on here glad the contributors aren’t in a jury and I was up in dock they will have made their mind up before the case would have started.

The prosecution will set out the case the lawyers will argue the defence and all the evidence will be heard and reported and jury will make up its mind we the public will then see at the end of the trial what the verdict is.

You are kidding aren’t you? This TNUK CSI matey, they never let facts get in the way of a good opinion. You should read some of the stuff on the topic when it happened.
