M6 south wide load today

The huge one that had 3 of them in it.

I think they were travelling a bit to fast today as it took up the near side 2 lanes so we all had to use lane.

Mine is the top end of the limiter, not many pass me  , it took me over 5 minutes to get past there was loads of cars behind me. I think the convoy needed to lower a few clicks so the wagons spent less time in lane 3 holding up cars.

I know some will say ■■■■ the cars :grimacing:

Or conversely you could have dropped a click or two, sat back and relaxed and let the much faster cars go on their merry way.

Just a thought.

Depends if it was a STGO category

I wouldn’t care what category it was Nick or whether he was exceeding his speed or not, it’s not my job to police that sort of thing, but if I thought it was going to take many miles to complete the overtake then I wouldn’t bother starting it in the first place.

After all this is Britain so you can be sure that there’ll be a hill, traffic jam, or set of roadworks along in a minute to make the overtake moot anyway.

I was just saying mate.
The one thing that really gets my goat is the flashy yellow light brigade that sit bang on 54 so you’ve got no chance of passing them in the night killing your night vision.
Much like plod that lights up the road for miles and miles as they toe it at 100 + , I don’t get why their blue and reds need to be sooooooooooo bright whilst their moving, it would be great if they were dim dipped till they stopped

That wasn’t intended as a snotty response from me Nick. Apologies if it read that way. We all get exasperated by things and peoples determination to stay on the limiter at all costs is one that gets me. Although in balance I will admit that when limiters first came out I too was guilty of driving with my right foot welded to the floor! Experience and a reluctance to die of a stress related illness cured me of that though.

So the m6 today should of had procession of hundreds/thousands of trucks sitting behind 3 wide loads.

Cause we can’t overtake as its stressful and result in all dieing of a related illness :unamused:

Hang on a minute, let’s leave the amateur dramatics aside for a minute here and look at what you said shall we? You stated that you’ve got a quick limiter and very little overtakes you. You then went on to say it took 5 miles to overtake, correct so far? Well if all that is correct (and I have no reason to doubt your facts), then I suggest that these wide loads would indeed be travelling faster than the majority of other lorries! Hardly the hundreds and thousands of lorries stuck behind them as you go on to suggest is it?

That’s wrong…

I said minutes not miles

Don’t wish to start a row I’m a nice chap. Just saying I think they were travelling to fast. Or in hiandsight maybe this was to prevent to many trucks needing to go round them.

I said minutes not miles

With a fast limiter , that not many pass , same difference :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I’m not after a row either Jase, I was just trying to play devils advocate and show that there are always more than one way to skin a cat. You’re the captain of your ship mate and I’m not saying that what you did was wrong, rather I would have approached it differently; if the speed difference was small I’d have knocked the cruise off a tad and merely waited for an uphill section to appear and then blasted past them without ■■■■■■■ off Mr Important in his Audi.

A bit like the young bull and the old bull joke really.

No offence mate I think we’ve all been there it just seems the norm now .

I’m guessing he won’t get the bull analogy

Are we at the top, or the bottom of the hill in this? :open_mouth:

Personally Evil I’m at the top preparing to amble down to the cows, depending on your age you could either be strolling down with me, or sprinting down there like your ■■■■ is on fire!

Was this the one in ■■■■■■■ with abload escorts and police escorts? spotted it south of 42 yesterday as I was heading back to my station.

Save me a couple!

I view hold-up/delays as a swing in my favour with regard to effort for reward…
I don’t get compensated for stress, so I’m not going to give it to my employer for free!

Years ago when doing wide loads, when the police ■■■■■■ turned up, the first question always was, “How fast can you go driver?”
They wanted you off their patch ASAP!
