M6 Motorway

Well, I can safely say as someone who happens to drive megabus on a regular basis, this was not staged. I know the driver and one of the passengers travelling, however it does send out a good message to terrorists.

And ever wondered why you never see a coach on the M6? It’s because there is a way to avoid paying the toll charge, ALL megabus services use the M6T.

Stop a coach full of people at a set of services and get a free pass for the M6T?

that’s why they clamp lorries(or threaten too) if we park in coach bays, coaches bring in plenty of customers at the end of the day, yet we have to park up by law and pay upto £30 for the privelage, not that I ever do!

Longman.

Had this debate in here many many times the seperate coach bays are for health and safety reasons and quite rightly so
during busy periods there might be 10 coach loads of passengers in a MSA that could be up to 500 people ranging from young exited kids full of E numbers due to the amount of sweets and fizzy drinks they have consumed. Then you might have a stag/ hen do full of drunks wandering all over the place and this can be at any time of the night or day.

You try reversing a 44 ton artic with all these people milling and running all over the place. Like i have said before i am a coach driver and have never had a problem if a lorry driver decides to take his daily rest in a coach bay so long as said lorry driver does not moan and complain about being woke up by screaming kids or a load of drunks at 3am.

At least half of the coach bays could be given over to lorries at off peak times and during the winter months.I have said for years that lorry drivers get a very raw deal from all the MSA franchises and the goverment have the power to improve this.

Norton canes on the M6 toll road give coach drivers a voucher to use the toll road but only if you are carrying passengers its called an incentive(bribe) to stop and let your passengers spend money.
