M6 Motorway

It was this morning, they haven’t seen so much traffic on it for ages, shame it was mostly Police vehicles !

Did they have to turn off that sign that always says “M6 toll clear”

coiler:

bet they didnt…

pigpen:
is the m6 toll going to be reimbursed for loss of ernings is so its just a back hander from the gov because they was only saying that they was losing money just a little while ago

About 30 quid should do it.

SO… It’s a fake ■■■ apparently.

With the driver probably being paid “by the day” I bet he’ll think twice before calling in the rozzers next time someone lets off a little puff of smoke in his mirror!

Wheel Nut:
It was somebody having a crafty ■■■, he was using a crisp packet as an ash tray, when it caught fire he poured his drink into it :stuck_out_tongue:

Meanwhile police have arrested 5 suspected terrorists in London this morning.

Bloody paranoia :unamused:

Although it’s funny how differently people think post 9/11. I am guilty myself, just yesterday I was talking to the bloke that runs the local coffee shop, the town I live in is full of churches and as usual the conversation got around to religion. I had said that the cross was a strange symbol to have, after all if the second coming ever happens, I’m pretty sure Jesus will be giving crosses a wide berth, so anyway the bloke tells me that there was a crowd of them in there the night before until 2am, there were Christians, Atheists, Agnostics and Muslims.

MUSLIMS! I said, yeah he replied, they’re learning to fly at the airport (field with a couple of Cessna) down the road, it got me thinking, wasn’t that how 9/11 came about (or isn’t that how they want you to think that 9/11 came about) now I would never have thought bad things about Muslims learning to fly before the WTC went down, I probably would’ve said something like, why can’t they just use a carpet like normal :open_mouth:

It’s a messed up world…

They’re putting another one up just after than. “Please, someone, anyone, just someone please use it”

Saw one saying “M6 toll shut T1 - T8” on the M62 by Manchester this morning, took a good four or five looks before I could believe my eyes…

On the radio i heard people saying things along the lines of ‘what would we do without the m6 toll’ because the m6 was solid between 12 and 6 up to and through the roadworks… just another day at the office really.

Speaking of which, when is the lane gain southbound after the m5 exit going to be restored? Cant fathom why it is even shut and its causing chaos.

bigvern1:
It wasn’t me…I’m on the bus tomorrow!

Yeah that’s what I thought too  when I saw news on telly and thought Big Vern was in this bus!

Enjoy the trip tomorrow - be good boy!

So why not just quietly pull the said coach into the services and isolate it? Did they really need to bring the whole lot to a stand still for hours? Over reaction and a waste of bleeping money and resources IMO. Cancel the bloody olympics.

Sent from my iPhone using my right index finger!

They must have found the fake cigarette within minutes.
So why did it take 2/3 hours?

I reckon this was a planned excercise. I reckon the ‘smoker’ and the 999 caller were plants.
It all smells of such a gross over-reaction that it can’t have been a real situation.
I doubt they’ll admit it for a while though.

Now THERE would be a great place for an MSA - As a Conservative party “Blue Boar” owned tax loss enterprise zone no doubt!

Working there would sure have you a quiet day I reckon!

So there you have it lads it was some poor sod trying to stop smoking, cast a thought to all the vehicles in the tailbacks who missed their booking times and didn’t get tipped so couldn’t get reloaded. The reps that sold nothing today, the holidaymakers that missed their flights so that places like Spain miss out on their spending (we can’t afford that cos we are on the breadline already) the police, army and special forces that were alerted plus all their vehicles " bet they dont worry about MPG " the loss of tolls and the backlog on the surrounding roads and if it were possible to put a figure on it the collective cost would be millions and all because someone decided to have a legal ■■■, if he had lit up a proper one a dozen people would have said “put it out you can’t do that on here” and all that ■■■■ would have been averted.

El Griffo, if there was a “like” button on here, you would’ve had my cherry

Steady on Pete i am quite shy you know.

You couldn`t make this up…Currently there are no legal penalties for using one of these cigarette thingies, doubtless it will be covered by anti terrorism legislation, as that is a ‘catch all’ peice of legislation if needs be.

But think of the fun you could have on a National Express tour of the UK, you could cause millions of poundsworth of damage by just sparking up!

This country is more effed up than I ever thought was possible

I smell a rat too, does a bargain basement bus company normally use the toll road?
And where better to stage an exercise than on the normally deserted M6 toll road, and right by the toll booths where theres plenty of room
Does this mean there will now be a two hour checkin window for MegaBus/National Express journeys in the name of ‘‘security’’, passengers will be able to meander round the retail outlets in the bus station while they wait.
Hmmm, and look out for this one :bulb: for reasons of terrorism prevention passengers will now not be allowed to take fluids into the cabin, and drinks will have to be purchased on the bus :exclamation:

yes i agree
it was a planned exercise in preperation for the olympics
and to send out a message to any would be terrorists
the police got a filter tip about the smoking liquid
there were armed police ,army bomb disposal teams, 10 ambulances and 20 fire engines surrounding the coach within minutes
funny that , surely they wasn’t on standby in the middle of staffordshire
then they left the people on the coach for 1 and a half hours before anyone boarded it
while chemical decontamination areas were set up
then the people calmly got off the coach and sat on the carriageway
none of them looked suprised , angry or frightened

I can’t remember where I read it in the news media, but I believe it was another passenger and not the driver who phoned the police.
