I was just wondering if there was exemption for drivers that work for certain companies to flout this particular rule?
I only ask as I was in a convoy following a Tesco wagon on this section of M42 as about 5 HGV’s decided they didn’t have to follow the ban and pulled out to overtake about 2 miles before the ending.
Turners of Soham and Yusen logistics x2 made up 3 of the 5 trucks.
how about you mind your own bizz drive, yes its banned at certain times however if its clear and the truck is doing 50 infront of me and I can do 56 im overtaking

his on about on some dual carriageway A1 being one of them, at peak times lorry well anything over 7.5ton are banned from lane 2 and must stay in lane 1
Jimmy McNulty.I fully understand how you feel.Inever overtake on those sections and those that do make a mockery of those of us that abide by the rules. The police dont seem to take any action.I wish they did.
If Plod do do anything, Just tell them your name is Katie Price.
If I am empty and tonking up the hill nicely at 56mph and IF THERE ARE NO CARS BEHIND ME in the restricted lane then as sure as a welshman smiles at a sheep I am overtaking the plobber who is nothing but a mobile road block.
Haters can hate but I dont care. Plob on!

Do what I do mate,.just concentrate on my own driving.
If they want to overtake and therefore take a risk of getting nicked,.and as long as it does not adversely affect me, nowt to do with me, that’s up to them… let em crack on.
By the same token, on the day, and circumstances prevail, and I decide to bend the rules and go for it, that’s the chance I take, and my own fault if I get done.
If somebody then disapproves of what I do, don’t care, nothing to do with them …unless they are rocking a black uniform.
As it is I would just usually sit at the speed limit on there myself, as I’m rarely in a rush and get hourly paid.

And why does it ‘make a mockery’ of you exactly?
And by who’s standards?
If I was following you and these guys overtook us I wouldn’t be thinking…‘‘Ooh those people are breaking the law,.they are just making a mockery of me’’.
ffs.
‘You wish they did’'…why do you even care?

I wonder if this was this last week in the morning ?
I was driving home from work and this or something similar happened and it created a hell of a queue behind them as they didn’t have a lot of speed themselves.
Regular occurrence on that stretch of road.

And there lies the reason for the overtaking ban I would think.
Same old thing though innit…
Not enough Police on the roads anymore = Crap driving.
Its just not a nice thought that there those who think they are special and dont think the rules apply to them while the rest of us comply

its their licence their problem get over it and carry on your business, when they get nicked you can have a chuckle to yourself.
just like going up the A34NB @ East Isley
I’m happy to admit that it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve got halfway through that section, come up behind an HGV doing a fair bit less than 50, checked clear behind and overtaken, having forgotten about the ban.
And I very much doubt if I’m the only one.

Same
If I’m empty I won’t be sitting behind a fully freighted one struggling up the hill. I can see exactly why the bans were brought in, it’s annoying to see two side by side crawling up the hill causing a rolling road block and shouldn’t happen but nipping out on the limiter for seconds isn’t any hardship to the cars
