Did you ever see them wild birds hanging in the air above m4? I see them quite a lot, sometimes three of them making big circles others just hanging like colibers…
I feel like im winnetou on route 66 lol but its lovely thing them birds and preety big they are
Talking of smoking a joint what you bin on !
Red kite’s
Or buzzards…
They’re all along the M40 too (plus other areas),lovely birds a real success story because they were really endangered at one time. Plenty of buzzards aswel it’s good to see
no doubt they are handsome birds to look at
One of them flew through my truck while i was trying to let my ■■■■ escape with a huge draft, bastrd nicked my pork crackers!!
Now seriously its a beautiful view of wild nature but for some reason they only arround m4 and m40 as mentioned above, never saw them anywhere else
The Red Kites along the M40 corridor originated from people leaving food out for a breeding pair in the Stokenchurch area, so a farm worker on the Wormsley Estate once told me. I expect the ones on the M4 have bred from these, migrating along the Chilterns and the Ridgeway.
A bunch of flying, in-bred, ■■■■■■■■ then?
M5 (south west) - spirit of the buzzard.
Eagles are mostly solitary birds ,more likely Buzzards.
Red kites ,there are about 3 or 4 pairs often above my mum and dads house just off the M4 at jct 11
kites have a salmon tail , buzzards have a fan tail
lovely to see them up
We have large numbers of Buzzards in Essex and Hertfordshire, with a sprinkling of Red Kites being noted over the last two years.
Parliament House in Canberra’s full of 'em.
I often see birds of prey perched on the fences by the side of the motorway, they don’t mind the noise of the traffic and turn their heads as trucks go past.
Some look tired, and are just chilling out or waiting for some road kill.
There are a lot of Red Kites near me around Eccup Reservoir, just north of Leeds due to a conservation programme started about 10 years back I think… See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw4R5GSAaIQ
Now watch RSPB & its mouthpieces in the BBC start bleating on about wicked farmers killing all the songbirds and small mammals along the M4 & M40 . Nothing to do with the explosion of raptors in this country, of course once they’ve destroyed their food source they’ll start starving to death and of course farmers & 'keepers will get the blame again
They are beautiful and sometimes spectacular birds though seeing an increase in peregrines and sparrowhawks round here. Buzzards have to be the laziest bird ever if there isn’t a decent updraught they just sit on a post and watch the world go by.
Red kites and buzzards eat a similar diet, rodents, rabbits, even worms as well as carrion. Song birds will be far more at risk from your average domestic cat. Because they are scavengers they are at high risk of poisoning by over zealous game keepers protecting their tame birds for shooting
Hector, you can see a few just a few miles north of Leeds centre now. Also quite a few over Harrogate too. They look lovely when the sun catches under their wings.
if you want a close up of these wonderful birds visit the café in stokenchurch off the M40 chris,s I think its called, he feeds then in the afternoon and they swoop down and collect it from the middle of the parking area. lots of photographers sneak around in the hedges trying to capture them on camera. cheap parking and good food, fills up early though.
