I think we can put the blame for the state of affairs on the government. The fact is this country seems to be offering something that no other European country is offering that causes immigrants to want to smuggle themselves out of mainland Europe by hiding under trucks etc in the knowledge that if they can get in they’ll probably be able to stay. The government’s motives,as usual, being all about over supplying the UK labour market to keep wage levels lower than they would otherwise be.If the government really wanted to help to reduce the problem then making it clear that any such immigrants if/when found will face immediate summary deportation back to their country of origin would be a good start.
Most people miss the point. Some poor ■■■■■■■ is dead. It matters not where he was from. It’s a shame.

It takes a heartless individual to stop, drag the dead or dying man to the side of the road and drive off. I can’t get my head around that one.
Yeah, who the hell does that man. Shocking
I came past this last night and knew it was a pedestrian fatality as I couldn’t see any wreckage whatsoever just cones across the motorway. I’ll check my dash cam later to see if I can see any body parts for all you morbid buggers out there.

What ‘matters’ is the ‘reason’ ‘why’ he is dead.IE hiding under a truck to take advantage of the UK’s open door immigration policy which says if he can get in he can probably stay with better financial sweeteners than he’d get by staying in France. All of which is there to make a few people rich by taking advantage of the low wage environment of the over supplied labour market it creates.
The coming here for a better life theory does kinda fail when they enter via France as France is sure as hell much better than where they’re from. I guess even those with nothing can be struck by the greed bug.
Our immigration policy is to blame for this, we’re seen as a soft touch.

The big question being exactly what is it that is on offer here as opposed to France that makes it worth the risk of being crushed under a truck etc to get here rather than them staying in France.

100% exactly, the sole purpose of mass immigration is to drive down wages for the working class (i.e. us) for the benefit of the landowner/ factory owner/ farmer/ rentier/ banker class. It is those people who have the blood on their hands.
I salute u fellas who have to drive abroad thankfully I dont have too I mean what a way to die… but never the less I doubt it will deter them from doing it

its the language French
bit of a tongue twister
I doubt the driver of the truck knew much about it until he was traced if he did feel a bump more likely he thought it was a road surface not a person.
Why somebody pulled the man out of the way and drove off is anybody’s guess, could be shock and Adrenalin or reasons not wanting to be identified at the scene.
I hate to think of the fear and hardship these people go through to get to what the beleive is a promised land, but I’m sure once they get here they find it’s far from that.
But on the other side, I’m angry that they are trying to get here, I’m worried if I have to stop in a queue waiting at Calais that they’ll make it onto my truck and cause me and my employer loads of agro.

They’re not all trying to come here, just talk to people who live in places like Paris or many other cities round Europe, they all have similar stories to tell. We get to know more about it, because we are an island and we still have border controls. So it’s not so easy to get here.
Why Britain?
There are already similar ethnic communities they can disappear into, there are people here that will “encourage” them to come here because they want cheap labour (and I mean really cheap virtually slaves) to work in the illegal economy and the last thing they want is their staff becoming part of the system and being asked questions by the authorities.

I don’t think its a question of whats on offer here as opposed to whats in france…there only swarming over Calais making it a war zone because its the main marshalling point for getting them over here…there not in france for any other reason other than to queue up to be smuggled over.
id be similar to the 1st driver…if I saw one I wouldn’t stop,or bother in any way…we all have our own opinions and are entitled to act by them.personally I would be upset if I saw a dog getting ran over, but hardly likely to if it was anything falling off a trailer.who needs the ensuing greif and interrogation that would invariably follow?.

I’ve come back from a trip in Europe today, I got to the port and they only had one of the heartbeat sheds open, and they were almost waving trucks through there with no more than a glance, and neither border agency shed was open.
So basically the entire security effort to stop illegal immigrants getting into the UK from Calais is up to truck drivers instead of either the UK or French authorities. Surly that’s not right?

Thats an absolute disgrace pal! I just think its disgusting how they pin it on the driver the job is hard enough without having to confront immigrants trying to get on your truck sorry but I couldn’t do it…

Which contains the obvious contradiction in that you’ve admitted that ‘anywhere should be better’ but ‘we have more to offer’ than the French but being an Island supposedly keeps the numbers down.
When all the evidence says the country is being subjected to an immigration free for all.Because they don’t want to stay in France.Because we have ‘more to offer’ in the form of sweeteners and a virtual guarantee if they can get here they can stay. All so that a few modern day slavers can get rich from the low wage economy it creates.

Or to put it another way yet more confirmation that they are coming here because the government wants them here and provides them with the sweeteners to risk the trip. All because the political implications of trying to sell the real open door immigration policy they are running, would be unviable.
So the status quo,of telling them risk it if you want and if you can make it the government will make it worth your while coming by then guaranteeing immigrant status with all the ‘benefits’ of same. While at the same time pretending the opposite by hitting road transport for bringing them in.All of which the government sees as a win win situation.

Hmmm, maybe more his shame resulting from his decision, etc, than mine for having a Muppet Government
Edited - after consideration that, as a supposed advanced nation, albeit with deluded governance domestically and shackled with unwanted foreign direction, perhaps the shame is consistent & equal for all participants to bare
My key to alleviate my share of shame is to democratically urge binning the current practice of threadbare UK borders and restore them unto a meaningful, accountable, properly and democratically functioning management, ie., independently of all meddling EU dictation
IT, etc, now exists whereby hauling to/from the continent need not take any longer to navigate - so let’s diss that argument straight away…
Cue the uber-liberal, do-gooding, pinko suspects in an indignant rage?
