Compactor. Thats what a lot of waste food I used to collect was in when I was doing collections for Sugarich. There were a few skips with sliding metal covers but they were reserved mostly for places where the entirety of food waste was dry stuff and quite large in size such as bread or from pizza manufacturers. Given it was on a hook-loader and lifted onto the back at 45 degrees without coming out then solutions that would’ve prevented that from happening obviously exist.

“he” was a “she”… two cars collided right in front of her, one coming off the slip road, and spun right in front of her she had no where to go as the middle lane was occupied and she had cars on her inside on the slip road the impact shot the load forward over the top of the trailer.Middle lane?
Like slow lane, middle lane , fast laneTwo cars in a RTC did not delay thousands of motorists for hours!
A LGV with unsecure load was the root cause. How the hell do you “secure” a trailer full of rotting trash? That piece of tarp they use to over the top isn’t going to stop 20+ tons of festering waste from making a break for it!

Don’t use a tarp!Come on Chester, tell us what type trailer you would transport that load on, and how you secure it. Please be specific, not your usual wishy washy pie in the sky twaddle.

Chester is quite a knob
Why do you think said knob is on my ignore list ?
Christ no man. It’s worth keeping his clap trap visible. Makes everything else in the world peachy.

Surely if as you say the cars collided right in front of her she was far too close to them?

You can only forward plan and be ready so much. Sometimes ■■■■ happens that intrudes into your lane that you cannot predict. That’s how the world goes around and there’s sometimes nothing you can do about it.

Not necessarily so. You or I do not know exactly what happened but to me it sounds like the every day occurance of a driver not backing off when approaching a slip road with cars trying to enter hence being too close to do anything about it then having to break so hard the load went everywhere. Maybe just maybe with a litlle bit more antcipation the hard braking could have been avoided.
Not trying to stick the boot in but you give me your explanation what you think happened from what was said?

Yes I understand [zb] happens but it is far more likely to happen to some drivers more than others. A lot of drivers are accidents waiting to happen the way they drive.
Far too many drivers will not keep a safe distance. Some don’t know they are even doing it. Some do it but blame others for making them do it and some just do it because they are big cowardly selfish bullies.
I am not saying the driver in question was at fault but from what I have read it sounds very much like it.

Sounds a reasonable explanation (maybe you could join CSI Trucket,)
However it could be car comes down slip road, dives into gap left by the truck, misjudges it and hits car in front of truck, goes into a spin meaning the truck is forced into an emergency stop, with the consequences we see,
Now maybe with many other loads nothing would have moved the motorway wouldn’t be closed and as the truck didn’t hit the car and we wouldn’t have known about it.
A bit like the time somebody joined the A1 in front of me and then stopped to allow the first car in the queue to join, the first car had stopped at the end of the slip road despite me seeing the queue and backing off to give them room to get on the main carriageway. Nowhere for me to go as no hard shoulder there at the time and lane 2 full, so it’s full on emergency brakes. but because my load didn’t move I went on my way as did everybody else, nobody any the wiser how close it was.
And there you have it.
From what little information we have it could just as easily be a situation where the driver has done everything well but been placed in an unavoidable situation. But since neither of us had the misfortune to be there, we will probably never know, will we?
Here’s my two pennarth. On a damp road I’m doing about 95 to 100 k/mh and an extra lane comes in from the left which leaves me in the middle of three lanes with nothing in front of me. A car flies past in the offside lane as another car does the same up the nearside lane. Both of these idiots were so interested in changing lanes that they hit each other right in front of me. Luckily for all of us I was in a rigid and ended up nearly sideways but managed to miss them (driving god ) Nothing came of it but only through sheer luck, and my driving god skills of course
Had there been a smash up, I wonder how many would have said truck too fast/too close etc.
You could very well be correct peterm but like a lot on here I think you like to think the truck driver was not to blame which is fine. I hope she was not to blame either but…
From what I see on the roads and I have said this many times drivers do not leave enough room in front of them and when something unxpected happens this is the sort of result we can have.
As usual we will never know exactly what happened and we can only surmise.

No you don’t you want to blame her to fill your preconceptions, I posted an alternative scenario because your response was so predictable.

So if we drive too close we can avoid hitting the 2 cars that have collided directly in front of us? Ok lesson learned.
Could be a car trying to overtake another as they both enter from the slip road. I always find this entertaining.
Apologies if this ain’t it my TNUKCSI cap is in the wash with me Dutch ones.

You can try and keep that magical safe but it won’t help you if Johhny Big Balls come roaring down the slip road, dives into said gap at the same time as Miss mini van pulls in whilst not checking her mirrors. You are zb out of luck.

No I didn’t mean that. I meant that that sort of thing can happen to any of us. She might or might not have been driving too close. If she was, then she contributed to it, but if not, then she was in the same sort of position I was. I was just saying that what happened to me could have been similar to what happened to her.
Ok peterm I understand.
's okay.
