M1 lorry & minibus crash

Wow 26 pages, hadn’t been on for a while, didn’t think this would still be rumbling along. I’ve noticed that carryfast is in involved

Why THE F… every thread has to come down how bad EE are, how we steal your jobs, how we are alcoholics. Eastern Europe is made up from dozens of countries every one with different culture, habits and understanding of life.
What happen on M1 is tragic, sad and criminal event, the guilty party should be prosecuted with the full extend of the law. RIP to all people regardless of country of origin.

And before talking about drink driving look in the mirror, every week British citizens are arrested driving drunk(cars/SUV’s) in Bulgaria, yes not trucks but never the less drunk. When I mention this last year, many of you said, well thats normal few pints from the pub, driving few miles home :unamused: :unamused:

I see no one has replied back to this message especially when a European forum member decides to post, especially those who have been bad mouthing EE, Flip Flops (hate the term) etc…

I’ll be honest, I really couldn’t give a monkeys about expats in Bulgaria having a few pints and driving home, on their own heads be it. What does concern me is the fact that someone from eastern europe decided to have a few drinks and then drive a 44t truck and then stop on the M1 for 12 minutes with no visible warning lights causing IMHO the deaths of 8 people, to me it doesn’t matter if it turns out that the driver of the fed ex truck pushed the mini bus under the back of the AIM truck, in my eyes the EE driver caused the accident due to the fact if he hadn’t been over the limit and stopped in the inside lane, the collision would have never occured

And thats pretty much sums it up! Criminals come from all countries/religion/skin color etc. Just because this Polish driver is drunk driver doesnt mean all Eastern Europeans are like him(as suggested in this thread).
We have British murderers, pedophiles, dunk drivers etc. in Bulgaria but that will never lead me to conclusion about the British people in general. Or may be the “famous” British tourists, should I judge UK by the hordes of alcoholized youth we get :unamused:
Stop commenting for EE as its one country is totally ridiculous.
Im not saying there is not criminals from countries from EE, plenty we have, all I want is for you to judge the individual by his/hers deeds, not the country of origin

Dolph, you seem to be coming across as a slightly over sensitive hypocrite.

Won’t bother on dr dicks comments, his motives and agenda are clear, or he has no understanding of road craft or being in control of your space, oh no, better off backing down to all on the road and becoming a problem.
Oh and still waiting for the evidence Dr Damon, all shouty shouty but no substance. Teenage fantasist…

The incident was explained and all the loose ends ■■■■■■■ within a few minutes. The thread has taken a more meandering line since. . .a bit like a driver under the influence, reading a blurry satnav, in the dark, I suppose… oh, and you`re right, that noise is from the tyres on the rumble strip…

I look forward to what conclusion the REAL experts come to as to the cause of the accident …

Do you mean to say that some posters on here are not actually real experts, WOW?!! :open_mouth:

Pete.

I know it’s unbelievable innit?

But some still like to think they are … :unamused:

a few posters from this forum were on the scene after the accident measuring skid marks

They had a tough time those Canadian snooker pro’s. Kirk Stevens had a terrible condition too.

He felt compelled to roll up £20 notes and snort his medicine through it.

bill werbenuk drank 50 pints a day and would drink a pint every frame and still do his job

and these ee drivers think its ok to have breaks on the hard shoulder ,WHY , is it acceptable over there

Buckstones:
Anyone remember Bill Werbenuik the Canadian professional snooker player? He had some medical condition such that he always had to drink several pints of lager before and during playing a match to steady a tremor. (I don’t think he drove home after playing, though.)

All that lager didn’t do his digestive system any good.
Wasn’t he the only snooker player to ■■■■ on tv once, as he lifted his leg up to the table?

was there not a bit of conflict between him and alec (hurricane) higgens the northern ireland alcoholic wife beater snooker legend…i remember there was a big ruckus at his funeral when they were lowering the coffin into the grave…the ropes burst and they missed the hole, but he went in off of the cushion… :unamused:

David Wagstaff, the driver of the FedEx lorry, appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court today. He didn’t enter a plea. He was granted bail on the condition that he is not allowed to leave the UK without prior approval of the crown court. Both he and Ryszard Masierak will appear at Aylesbury Crown Court on September 26.

Dave Wagstaff is a steady bloke who has been on FedEx for a good few years, my heart goes out to him and his family.

I don’t know the guy but it’s easy for a load of blokes on a forum to be judgmental in the cold light of day.
That rta will have all took place in seconds, one minute you’re driving along merrilly next your on your side after a ■■■■ load of commotion and a ■■■■ loud bang.
You walk away from it and it hits you that you are partly responsible for somebody’s serious injury and other’s death.

Thing is it could be any one of us on here :bulb: , we have ALL made mistakes on the road, and ALL done bloody stupid things, had near misses and thankfully got away with it so far,.anybody who refutes that is either a liar, or he hasn’t done the job long enough.

This poor bugger, who you seem to know and have a good opinion of didn’t get away with it.
He will be currently severely ■■■■■■ off, feeling all sorts of emotions, and asking himself …
‘‘Is this ■■■■ job at x no.of quid an hour worth going to jail for’’
There but for the grace of etc etc. :bulb:

Absolutely spot on Robroy, indeed there but for the grace of God eh?

I’m the first to put me hands up, several instances over a long time on the road when things could easily have worked out so differently, one particular moment still makes me shudder, it wouldn’t have been my fault but i can still the bloke’s face looking at his own death some 30 years later, hmm another bloke now i recall sliding sideways in his car looking straight at the front bumper of my 2800 Daf in full smoking tyres lock up, we stopped inches apart, again his own fault but he wouldn’t have been any less dead.

Anyone who thinks they have gotten away with several million miles behind the wheel by what they think is their skill/perfection is deluded and needs to have a bloody rethink, we can help make our own luck by driving half decently and going that extra mile by making sure everything works, and driving practices like keeping the brakes cool on hills etc in case we really need the buggers :bulb: , but make no mistake its sometimes pure luck and not so much of those skills we prize so highly which has seen us through unscathed.

All we can do is our best and keep doing the job as well as we can to hedge things in our favour.

poor guy…just a bollox nobody needs.if your in the middle lane and whack someone coming from lane 1 back into it whilst not being able to do more than 56,then wheres the blame other than the media attention kicking the jacksie out of it plus the origins of the prosecutor and bus inhabitants…looks like he is tarred with the same umberella of blame sofar…time will tell and hopefully he gets exonerated of any blame.whereas the jury is still out moreso for the other 2.

Have an educated guess .

Idly wondering why his licence had been revoked? Anyone know?
