M1 lorry & minibus crash

He has been charged nothing unfortunate it was his actions that appear to of contributed to this tragic event

‘Unfortunate’ in the sense that he might have listened too often to those saying that driving a truck doesn’t take more skill and involve as much,if not more, responsibility,as driving a train. Then dropped his level alertness to fit the the erroneous stereotype. :bulb:

Yes Matt there appears to some on here that have trouble digesting the English language.
They also seem to have a hatred to foreigners and think they are superior drivers.

Evidence suggests otherwise.

A bit more information coming out.

It’s very difficult to decipher your posts… but…

From where do you get your evidence for this?

Really?

well after leaving scotland about 12 years ago and moving over here, then in general terms the further you go into eire, the more relaxed and easy pace of life it becomes compared to the marny gobstick usual attitudes of your average english dweller.i live here, ive been ,ive seen…its just the way it is…so yes…really…moan moan moan.

yorkshire terrier:
Trainers tracksuit and hoods up :open_mouth: there are driving trucks in Britain ffs not riding round the park on a bike with a bottle of vodka…
I spent a lot of money getting my licence and I was proud to be a truck driver but these days when the bloke in the next truck looks like the local smack head the pride is getting knocked out of me.

My analysis is that sportswear in Eastern European countries is seen as aspirational, they didn’t have brands like Nike and Adidas easily available before the 1990s.

What looks scruffy to us is vibrant/different to someone who grew up in a grey concrete commieblock.

Anyway I don’t think there’s any answer here beyond technology, so at the start of your shift after you insert your Digicard, you must perform a breathalyser before the engine will start.

That would be a complete pain in the arse, but it’s worth it if 5 lives a year are saved. It’s the price we pay of a European economy and British kids not wanting to drive. There is no alternative where we close off our economy and living standards drop 50%, we just have to deal with it. Attitudes to alcohol are not going to change for decades.

If Eastern Europeans generally were not slightly backward culturally then their economies would be larger and they would not come here for work.

I was referring to / thinking of the 8 dead people, the injured and their loved ones, plus all other innocent people killed or injured - regardless of where they live.

Have just read from the first (Monday morning’s) Court appearance in a statement from a mate of his that the Polish bloke ‘…Masierak had served in the Polish Army, and had been living in a car for two months since splitting from his wife…’

How the chuff can anyone get “fit & proper” rest - or whatever the terminology is - when “living” in a car.!?

How long before Nanny CPC cobbles us an egg-sucking module for us to endure on this

12 pages :open_mouth: Not too sure if it’s been mentioned, but the driver who was over the limit, more than likely started to drink midway shift. So when he signed on,he was sober. The scenario happened here, who is english, signed on showing no signs, apparently.

A bit more on how this happened.

Polish trucker Ryszard Masierak’s Scania allegedly came to a halt in the southbound slow lane of the M1 in Buckinghamshire before the accident early on Saturday.

Minibus driver Cyriac Joseph, who was taking a party of Indian tourists to London, is believed to have collided with a second lorry as he attempted to avoid Masierak’s vehicle.

Makes me wonder why the Fed Ex driver has been charged?

The interesting part of that article for me is:

Chief Inspector Henry Parsons, from Thames Valley Police, said:

“We have had full co-operation from the two freight companies involved and they are fully supporting us with our investigation.”

It’s not normal for the police to be so forthcoming about cooperation from anyone…

Reports say he has been charged for driving dangerously…they dont throw charges like that for the fun of it they must have evidence to support the charges

what part dont you understand…is it because im not typing in capitals,or is it the joined up writing in general…try this …in general terms compared to life in mainland uk,then theres a more relaxed attitude to almost everything in eire except from the major cities like dublin and cork…and apart from the families concerned of the dead in question, then apart from some tut tutting and cluck clicking on here and the usual social media(i assume) then nobody really is going to have any sleepless nights about it.its just an accident on a motorway…nobody passing it is going to drink any more or less before driving, and nobody will txt/phone any more or less.

if the 1st truck stopped, then surely turban boy in the bus should have been able to stop safely or not?

I understand the points you are trying to make. Just think you’re scribbling nonsense - WRONG. Not everyone leads a happy life - OBV!!!

So fine for some to just plod on ignoring the issues. Others have a right to be disgusted and call for change.

If the Fed-Ex driver was driving with due care and attention, and reading the road ahead as he should, he should have seen and realised the AIM lorry was stationary in enough time to have backed off and let the minibus out. If the Fed-Ex driver was so close to the swerving minibus right until the moment they reached the AIM lorry so that he totalled it when it swerved, that shows a huge lack of awareness and/or consideration. For all we know, the Fed-Ex motor may have had inward facing cameras, and that may have shown the driver texting or whatever. We just don’t know.
