M1 lorry & minibus crash

I find it refreshing that a few more members on here are starting to voice the truth. Brexit is happening because immigration is ■■■■■■■ the majority of the country off.

Let’s bring some truths forward regarding this case. Tragic? Yes? But opportunities to learn from grim circumstances have always been there. Not long ago an EE was busy scrolling music and wiped out the majority of a family by mangling them to death under a tail lift of the truck in front. Could it have been any other driver? Maybe…but it wasn’t. It was an imported selfish dangerous knobhead.

Was the EE driver in this case ■■■■■■ and caused death? Certainly involved for sure. Imported? Probably.

Did some/most on here think initially an EE was involved? Yes. Have we all seen crap EE driving? Yes. Were most of these EE drivers imported? Probably. Do we see drivers watching laptops and reckon they will be left ■■■■■■ EE’s? Yes.

Do DVSA almost exclusively tug EE drivers? YES. Why? We all know why. Because they don’t give a f**k.

Do they park on hard shoulders? Yes. Do they run bent? Yes. Do they use magnets? Yes.

Do they chuck litter everywhere? Yes-seen it with my own eyes. Do they do illegal excessive hours? Yes. Seen it last week where I worked.

SO GIVEN ALL THE ABOVE WHY DOES THE CRAP AND CORRUPT HAULAGE INDUSTRY EMPLOY THESE SELFISH IGNORANT POORLY SKILLED DRIVERS?

Because they are cheap. Is it about time the hauliers STOP employing cheap EE labour? Yes.

WE HAVE ENOUGH CRAP DRIVING LORRIES WITHOUT IMPORTING MORE. LETS FFS START BRINGING SOME F**KING PROFESSIONALISM TO THIS INDUSTRY.

Agree with most of your post EB except the cheap labour. Are they really cheap? In my experience at Lidl’s where approx 90% are EE drivers they are earning the same money that I was. They mostly seem to be Ltd as well so they’re paying very little tax.

That’s the whole point - Your wages were held at a lower level largely because there was a large reservoir of EE drivers willing to do the job at that rate. If there had been no such reservoir, your wages would have been higher - simple supply and demand. Well, that’s the theory at any rate.

There are some companies who only seem to employ EE - I see loads of smaller hauliers at Amazon depots like this, literally every driver is EE. They pay crap day rates, or near minimum wage, yet always seem to fill their vacancies.

We were on £12 per hour which is reasonable compared to what some are getting, but agree with what you’re saying, without them we could’ve been on £15/£20 per hour

As a matter of interest I searched ‘M1 lorry crash’ in Google today and selected ‘images’ as a search parameter - the results were very sobering, dozens upon dozens of pictures of incidents and crashes involving wagons. It’s very worrying, something seems to be going very wrong in this industry. Looking at some of the pictures, not keeping enough distance from the wagon in front seems to be an often repeated basic mistake.

Backing up your silly comments would be interesting.

That’s an interesting phrase for you to use, Doctor. On the subject of backing up one’s internet proclamations, can you please tell us exactly what your expertise in autonomous trucks is, as per your first post in this thread?

The issue in this case is importing Poland’s documented drunk driving problems onto UK roads.Especially when it means less jobs and downward pressure on wages for Brits.

No mate. All Brit drivers are great.

Harry Monk:
A very quick question which I was asked elsewhere and which is outside my scope, will the minibus have been fitted with a tachograph?

Straight answer is yes. All vehicles over 3500kg and all minibuses with more than eight seats must be fitted with a tacho. Whether it was being used is another matter as there are some exceptions where tachographs are not required for domestic work. These include the exclusive use of the minibus for the non-commercial carriage of passengers. As Mr Joseph was not just the driver of the minibus but also the owner of the taxi firm, and he was carrying relatives, it is possible that he was doing this journey as a family favour and not as Hire & Reward. He would therefore need the relevant D1 category to drive the minibus but would not need to have his driver card in.

Oh shut up snowflake. The guy is Polish. I know you’ re gutted but that’s the way it goes.

Snowflake, :unamused: ,you are like a ■■■■ online version of the Daily Express/Daily Mail, how truly crap your life must be if you are such a sad insignificant angry little person in real life.

Carry on posting from your mums back bedroom whilst blaming everyone else for your failure at life, you sad sack of ■■■■.

Having looked at all the photo’s of the accident I couldn’t understand how the osf of the FedEx unit collided with the osr of the AIM trailer. Even when supermatt posted his information about the AIM lorry being stationary in lane 1 my logic said that if FedEx had been in lane 1 and seen AIM late he would either have hit the AIM trailer direct or with the nsf of the unit in trying to avoid AIM. If FedEx was in lane 2 and the minibus saw AIM late and moved into lane 2 directly into the path of FedEx then it would be the nsf of FedEx that hit the minibus.

IMO this photograph shines an alternative view. The skid marks show the twin wheels of the drive wheels of the FedEX unit. The offside marks are virtually continuous but the nearside ones are more random. Is it possible that the FedEx lorry had already hit the minibus and the partial loss of traction on the nearside caused FedEx to veer? I would assume that they would have followed a course onto the hard shoulder and maybe even the grass verge but, in this case unfortunately, the AIM lorry was there. The result being osf of FedEx into osr of AIM with the minibus crushed between them.

Purely my thoughts, please feel free to disagree.

Oh dear, this coming from someone who chooses to name himself after some fictional TV character, appears to have the same IQ and command of the English language as well.

Do jog on, what a sad case you must be to feel the need to constantly remind everyone that the greatest achievement in your life was joining the Army, wow, what a full life…not.

Don’t post here much but I passed the scene around 10 minutes before it happened. Just want to let you guys know what i saw leading up to the accident.

Im not going to suggest blame, thats for the Police.

The AIM logistics HGV was parked in lane 1 of the M1 S/B with parking brake on NO HAZARDS, NO BRAKE LIGHTS just before the bridge but after the slip road.

The first I saw of him stationary in the wrong lane was when I exited on the slip road at J14, I couldn’t believe what I saw, It defied all logic. I didn’t see him until the last moment but luckily was on the slip road.

Purely my opinion, but now with info the Police have released I can only assume he decided to take a break on the hard shoulder, but was so pis sed didn’t realise he was in lane 1.

The way he was parked in a live lane was very disorientating because of the slip road as in he looked like he was on H/S.

RIP to all on minibus and sympathy to fedex driver as what I saw it could have easily been anyone of us who hit that bus.

More or less but all three drivers have fault.

You no understand. Too many bellend in UK drive camion already throwing rubbish and drink yum yum lager.

No more bellend needed. Enough prick in big brum brum already. Many EE driver rubbish. From now on beaver speak truth all time. Fasten seat belt.

Haven’t read all this thread, so sorry if what I say has been already said…

A while ago there was a thread on her about drink/drug testing at work. A few said they wouldn’t allow office staff to test them, and though I have done it, I am uncomfortable testing drivers so try to avoid it.

In the short term, I think we will now see more and more companies carrying out compulsory testing on all drivers now.

The public has a dim enough view of us already, and they will want to know we are not giving the keys to anyone under the influence.

It isn’t only EE drivers that drink drive, so it won’t be only EE drivers tested.

I have read this thread and picked out so many reasons why it happened, the Ford Fiesta spun round and hit the central barrier and the minibus had a blow out in lane three, forget the fact that this incident took place in Scotland.
Doctor Whom has used a lot of words but has still not made his point apart from he travels up and down motorways and reads a lot, hopefully not at the same time.
I saw the initial reports about the child and immediately said Indian.
Possible flight from the country? Most drink drive offences go straight to court, gone are the days when you were summoned to appear three months down the line.
As mentioned it’s a very sad story but to counter the polish guy scrolling music, don’t forget the Southampton driver who killed the Romanians while texting or the Lincolnshire bloke who derailed a train with his land rover killing people. Texting and phoning cause more road accidents then drink driving nowadays according to reports

Also not read all this thread

The fact that a LGV driver is over the limit does not mean they caused the incident

They should not be on the road if over the limit - no dispute there

We have a minimum wage law in this country that gets flouted every time we let a driver enter Britain who’s not being paid “Per hour” that minimum wage. It gets glossed over.
However - as I’m so often told on here - We’re going a bit off-topic. If we’re to continue discussing something on-topic, then might I suggest we have a dig around to see what lessons can be learned from this entire tragic series of events - regardless of who’s at fault in full or in part. :bulb:
