Simple maths, 3440 psv vehicles registered in the whole of 2014, 67965 hgvs registered in march 2015. Looking at the figures roughly 50 lorries go on the road to 1 coach, hardly surprising you see more lorry drivers acting dangerously. Doesn’t mean most lorry drivers are bad, does it. However, you can’t say the same about coach drivers. If I have a “biased” opinion based upon what my eyes see on the road, and what data I find online, that’s something I will have to live with

Before the introduction of speed limiters there was far less tailgating.
I totally agree with that statement, but, there was also none of this JIT deliveries bollox and nowhere near the traffic densities.
So I’ve often wondered if it is the limiters contributing to tailgating, or whether it is a combination of things with limiters just being one factor?
Regardless of the cause I agree that we daily see horrendous instances of tailgating from every type of vehicle. I can only assume that the ones doing it have so far been lucky and have never (yet) rear ended someone.
It’s 3 things, limiter, cruise control and driver attitude. Never been a fan of limiters, after all, you can still do 56 past a school or down a high street, much more dangerous than a potential 65mph on a motorway

I always sit at the front as well.

I drove before limiters and agree there was far far less traffic, less morons too it seemed. I agree most bus drivers sit about 2 cm off the back of you as they cant be arsed to wait while you overtake.
don’t think its just a bus thing though other than it will seem more common due to the fact they are slightly quicker than hgv’s, but more a society thing want everything now why wait etc.
but see the point that a load full of people is or should be treated with more care than a load of ‘goods’.
I’m always perplexed as to why National Distress drivers have the front fogs on all year round. It’s like the company have removed all the off switches. (And they’re not the DRL’s either.

As usual you talk a lot of sense. I agree it cannot all be down to speed limiters. I think a lot of it is down to the way society is changing. Everyone is in such a hurry. Nobody has any patience. There is no courtesy on the roads anymore. Aggression and bad attitudes towards driving in general are very common nowadays. The roads are overcrowded and there are hold ups everywhere.
I feel it will only get worse unfortunately because very few seem to care and just join in as if it’s all normal.
But of course there are still some professional drivers out there. Thank goodness.
