m1 closed looks like south bound

M1 | Derbyshire | Southbound | Serious Incident | Road Closed

The M1 in Derbyshire is closed southbound between junctions J29A (Duckmanton) and J29 (Doe Lea), due to a serious incident.

A signed diversion is in place from J30 (Barlborough) following the hollow square symbol.

All traffic should exit the M1 at J30 and head eastbound on the A616. At the A619 roundabout in Barlborough head southewest on the A619 through Stavely and Brimington. Take the A61 southbound through Chesterfield. Take the A617 southbound to rejoin the M1 at J29.

There are long delays in the area and drivers are advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey or seek alternative routes.

Read on Twitter and its a coach involved, driver trapped and 23 passengers injured

Looks like a it of tailgating to me

Actrosman:

Yep driving too close no matter what the conditions.
The attitude these days is others do it so I will as well.
Stuff the consequences if anything happens.
Of course it will never happen to me.
I am too good a driver.
Exactly what all the drivers in heaven said before their last day on earth. :unamused:

I went past it earlier heading north. There was a transit van with its bonnet up and hazards on, broken down maybe? Couple of car lengths behind a land-rover with a caravan, planted in the rear of that was an artic then the coach hit that. Air ambulance was in the field next to the carriageway and emergency services struggling to get through southbound as traffic was nose to tail and nowhere to go. Lots of coach passengers stood around looking very dazed and confused. :frowning:

I hate coaches. The drivers seem in general to be the worst on the road. I won’t even let my kids travel in them on school trips. If they can’t go with a parent, they ain’t going

Me too, bunch of monkeys the lot of them:lol::lol:

That’s a bit harsh. You should see some of the stupid manoeuvres made by parents and teachers at school.

almost as bad as agency :open_mouth: oh no what have I done

Not harsh at all, yes parents tend to drive like dicks around schools, but think of how many coaches you see daily, probably around 50-60, with roughly half routinely driving like dicks, tailgating cars and lorries around 55-60mph. Not with my kids in the back thank you very much

Had a national express tailgate me with my baby in the car at weekend in roadworks and I was going faster than 50,
Then he pulls in to outside lane and tailgates the car infront, that didn’t move so he shot back across all lanes under took and started to hound the next batch of cars.
There’s bad car,bus and truck drivers but when your carrying passengers you should be sensible

In a perfect world eh ,
unfortunately on this occasion not all was perfect, but hey,
, have to agree that tarring all coach drivers with the same brush is a touch harsh.
.
Compare that to the amount of LGV bumps - crashes - rear end shunts daily /weekly/monthly/yearly ? Whose the perfect ones
.
So your saying the artic driver was perfect when it drove into the landrover & caravan 1st are you  :unamused: Really  :unamused:
bit of 50/50 thing going on there wouldnt you say :unamused:
Yes , think of the safety of the children by all means., they may grow up to be a lorry or coach driver one day - maybe - .

I’m not saying all coach drivers are the same, just that I wouldn’t let my kids on one, as you don’t know whether you will get a good one or bad one. It’s all about percentage. I see mostly cars, probably 3-4000 a day, I see roughly 20-30 ■■■■ moves a day, tells me most car drivers are safe. I see roughly 3-400 lorries a day, see probably 5-10 ■■■■ moves, tells me most lorry drivers are ok, but when I see 50 coaches a day and 30 were tailgating, that tells me most are picks, not all, but there’s not enough wiggle room for me to let my kids on one

Unfortunately truck drivers are just as bad as coach drivers and anyone who cannot see that is living in cloud cuckoo land.
They are both meant to be professional drivers but on a daily basis you see them driving like idiots and putting peoples lives at risk.
It used to be the good out weighed the bad but now it seems the bad out weigh the good.
Aggression and bad attitudes seem to be the main problem. It is all very sad to see.

I wouldn’t say all coach drivers are bad. Main offenders I see on the motorways are national express.

But look at tour bus drivers, they’re usually the only ones worried about passenger comfort over speed. A crap tour bus driver will get you to the next gig early at the expense of no sleep, a good driver will get you there on time but ensure the comfiest ride he can.

For the bad to outweigh the good, you would have to see over 200 instances of dangerous driving by lorry drivers everyday. If you truly deem the standard of driving dangerous, all I can say is you’ve been watching too much stobart trucks and trailers

I have often wondered what it is like to be deluded.
Your perception of everything seems to be somewhat biased.
You hate coach drivers tells a story in itself.
Do you realise many coach drivers also have an LGV license as well including myself.
There are some drivers that act professionally but many do not. A lot of that is caused by ignorance.
Maybe try opening your eyes to see the reality of the situation. Look at accident statistics as well might help you realise what you say is not quite correct.

Firstly there’s a big difference between hating someone and thinking they drive like a knob. Secondly statistics mean ■■■■ all. You can dress them up to suit an argument. Eg if 4 lorries go through a village while the nimbys are monitoring speed, and 3 do 1 mph over the speed limit, they can say 75% of lorries speed through our village. However, it doesn’t take a genius to work out, that with roughly 15 lorries to 1 coach on the road, lorry drivers will have more accidents
