Lorry slides into icy pond (US)

Could be tricky getting this out:

Why

It’ll winch out the same way it went in.

Not always with US trailers. It’d be easier to winch out a wet ciggy

Worlds toughest trucker?
We have a winner

he should have dropped a few gears and kept going

Surely you can not be insinuating that the standard of north American trailers is, er, crap?

Not the first time I’ve seen that happen! lol. Give em’ long enough and they may one day invent something that is similar to what the rest of the world uses, a chassis!

guess he missed his delivery target?

i’ll get my coat

It’s not as if the truck dipped it’s wheels, more like he DROVE it in that far!! :open_mouth:

See at first i thought it as ice road truckers sort of thing then it pans out at the end and you see the road

nar, it looks like he might have flooded the engine :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Och aye, I forgot American trailers are made of balsa, cheese, sponge and nothingness.

So chain to the tractor chassis then, and run the winch ropes through a shackle either side on the back of the trailer to keep it in line. Then you’re pulling the tractor, but controlling the trailer :sunglasses:

Goldfinger:
It’s not as if the truck dipped it’s wheels, more like he DROVE it in that far!! :open_mouth:

Yeah, maybe the driver had a little snooze

Maybe but you’ll probably find after the initial accident that the structural integrity of the trailer is gone. The minute anything on the back end digs in it’s concertina time followed seconds later by centre collapse as per the pics above then floaty away in several pieces time    . They survive much better going forwards bizarrely, obviously stronger in tension than compression. A mate of mine makes a good living dragging Swifts monkeys out of the Selway and Lochsa when they can’t get em round the bends in one piece
We used to see so many Swifts in the drink we thought they were running a shipping line :grimacing: :grimacing:

Looks like they got it out alright in the end.

Not to bad for a high speed trip across fields and a pond though
