Yes really, are you telling me you’ve never queued east of Tintwistle to get on the 67 then you’ve still got the 60 to get around. Believe me I’ve done the trip enough times, then on the way back your queuing halfway along the 67 to get on Woodhead only to get stuck behind some idiot who thinks there is a 35 mph speed limit on the road. There are problems both ways and the Woodhead pass is one of my favourite drives but you can get seriously held up at times.

If you’re running between Warrington and Sheffield I wouldn’t bother with Woodhead , unless you fancied a bit of scenery. There is less chance of getting held up on the 62 and there is every chance on the 628.Really? Held up on the ■■■■ M60 in the roadworks, held up at Halifax, Huddersfield, Brighouse, Batley… give me the Woodhead every time, 60/62 is a complete joke.
And its 16.2 miles longer via the M62 to Heywood from the Hucknall area…

.
Wow a whole 16.2 miles, a straight 16.2 miles is quicker than up and round, slo down here, etc etc
And you’ll use more fuel going over woodhead,.
It was the road of choice running to and from Stalybridge

It mounts up over a week / month, if you are paying for the diesel …two round trips a day, you do the maths

Nope I haven’t because I start early, so by the time I am in Manchester, people are scratching their balls and getting out of bed. As others have said, it’s a road that needs respect, I’d much rather do 40 over the Woodhead and have a queue behind me than drive like a tool.

As mentioned before, I’d rather drive the truck than attend the steering wheel, as for fuel, my MPG figures are always spot on despite using the Woodhead.
