Lorry driver charged with manslaughter of 39 [Merged]

Wonder how many remember the original thread that got removed. Trucknet CSI was hard at work.

The theory was that the driver was 100% innocent.
The people in the trailer were all smelly people from some middle eastern country who ■■■■ women and sponge off of our benefits and we should have no sympathy for them.

I should note only a select few trucknet users were actually promoting this view although they were very vocal about it and racist.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
your point being?
everyone involved whether inside or outside the trailer were illegal criminals who have all came to grief one way or another.
if they got here, are you trying to say that they would not be sponging from the uk benefit system for whatever reason as well as working on the black in nail bars and such?
i personally do not have the slightest sympathy for criminals or anyone illegally trying to enter the uk no matter where they come from.
if they hadnt died and been seen running up the road, then they would have been thought of for what they are,not what the media tries to turn them into.
although theres not much chance now with the new evidence turning up then i would like to think theres a hope that it might be proved for woody to be an unwitting prawn in the game.
either way,he is as dead as a doornail if he pops up over here again i would think so on remand is the best place for him just now.
i reckon that he is looking at 15 years anyway but who knows…watch this space…were still trying to work out what truck was the 3rd one now that the first 2 have popped up will it be the bullnose or not?

Same as the lorry pages on Facebook. Similar to that Irish bird a couple of years ago, Mandy I think her name was, got mangled after a big crash and got loads of change your profile picture to show support posts and a go fund me page, as well as a lot of support on here. Then when it was revealed that she was running on the wire and regularly did some seriously long and illegal stints behind the wheel it all went very quiet.

Mandy Robinson if I remember. I’d avoid truck driving if you are a M Robinson.

How do you know? How many had a choice?
Granted maybe they all paid to be smuggled into the country but we don’t know that yet.

My point is that there are real people involved in this and are grieving. I agree we need to stop these people from coming across illegally. I just think we should respect that they come from a very poor country and are just trying to provide for their families.
Heck a good argument could be made for what actual damage they do to the country. They don’t claim benefits and they tend to do jobs no one else is willing to do so they can send money back home. But regardless it is illegal.

There was an ex president of Ireland called Mary Robinson, good thing she didn’t become a lorry driver. She was an M Robinson and Irish, that’s just an accident waiting to happen.

As I doubt the traffickers in this are unlikely to be the philanthropic type, so I think you can be pretty sure these people paid to be in that trailer, whether that was up front or they were then in debt to the traffickers.
If their families can raise thousands of pounds from re-mortgaging land they aren’t the poorest either in Vietnamese society or compared to much of the World when around half the Worlds population live on around $5 a day and most definitely don’t own land they can mortgage, but then the traffickers are unlikely to be interested in those people unless they can sell them into Slavery.
However those people who climbed into that trailer are also unlikely to be underworld gang masterminds, more likely people chasing a dream of wealth beyond what they’ve known, sadly though it’s likely even if they had survived, the reality would have been far different than the dream they were sold, especially for the 8 women, the UN report on the Mediterranean migrant crossings found a great deal of evidence that many of the women were being trafficked for the ■■■ trade.
As for damage to the country, they’re brought here to work illegally, that economy does very little for the country, and the drugs trade, which seems likely that many were brought to work in causes considerable damage and a drain on the nations resources, but of course they are just minions in that operation and probably less to blame for the situation than people who think that recreational drugs are harmless.

Just to clarify, when you say a few years ago do you mean the first time she ran off the road or the second time she done it ?

Oh that makes it even funnier, I never knew she was a serial crasher.

you have to admit she did it in style…

The two Ronan’s could be related, one is 40 now, did biscuit man aged 23 drop the trailer loaded with biscuits at Cobelfret, and some helpful docker has plugged it in?

A text message sent by one of the victims shortly before she died suggests that they died of asphyxiation rather than hypothermia.

he lives in county armagh now.

unsurprisingly him and his solicitor cant be found at the present moment.
id imagine they are googling what countries britain and eire have no extradition treaty with .

there will be a few nice pieces of plant for sale at the police auctions next year.

the least of his worries will be the rental charges on the trailers will me mounting up for the year or so that plod will be keeping them for evidence knowing he has to pay for them till they are released.

Pham Thi Tra My, 26, sent distressed messages to family on the evening of 22 October. “I am dying, I can’t breathe,” the text read. She has not been heard from since.

Temperatures in refrigerated units can be as low as -25C (-13F). The lorry now is at a secure site in Essex.

If that phone has been found inside that trailer, then its a cut and dried case! If its not, there is another trailer with a phone inside it!
