Corbyn lost a LOT of potential votes today,Calling May a silly Woman .He is never ever getting into number 10 ,Never was .It is all a huge panto in any case .

Did he?
If he did, do you think that potential Labour supporters will think that she isn’t “silly”?
There may be some, true.
How many Tory voters took umbrage when Ken Clarke called her a “bloody difficult woman”?

Is this a case of double standards depending on who used the “W” word?

big diffrence between being called a difficult woman and a stupid woman, heres the clip from the bbc from pmq when he is alleged too have said it

Big difference between “difficult woman” and “stupid woman”.
Agreed.
But that’s what I was going on about.
It seems acceptable that Corbin thinks May and the Gov are “stupid people”, but he can’t call her a “stupid woman”.
Yet the well known feminist broadcaster Jenni Murray, often repeats* that women are reputedly better than men at multitasking. In spite of this being nonsense.
So isn’t it double standards that it’s ok to be prejudiced in favour of a group but not against it? When clearly that is a form a prejudice against different groups? Prejudice in favour of men is obviously against women, so it cuts both ways.

*Jenni says this in an ‘ironical way’ but will still object to males saying “it was only banter when I said women were bad drivers” etc. Clearly oft repeated jokes and minor jibs about minorities wear down respect for them.

Cordelia Fine is an excellent read for looking at gender stereotyping etc.

And Ken Clark isn’t really my idea of the older misogynist Tory. His comments singling out women as being ‘difficult’ could well be complimentary, but still gender prejudiced.

I think it’s a can of PC worms. And having Bercow rule on this is reviving some old issues too.
As Maoster comments it’s not as if the Commons should be sat there idly twiddling their thumbs at the moment.

How much crap can the Govt manage to sneak in by the back door whilst our attention is diverted by this crap?

Well here’s one example, they signed the UN Global Migration Compact last week on our behalf, yet again with barely a mention on the MSM, and yet again without asking the people they supposedly represent but who will pay.

May has been called and will be called and will be known as far worse names/things in the fullness of time, just as the former leaders and govts of this country over recent decades will be in due course, they all deserve to be called all the names one can think of.

Not to worry, there will be another election in a few years, and the electorate can go out and once again vote for their (whichever the msm tells them is the least dangerous :unamused: ) choice of the interchangeable blue or red teams, and once again the electorate will expect a different result.
All my life people have been doing the same thing, it’s got predictable and boring, the electorate deserve the govts they get.

The Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel resigned yesterday and his government collapsed after he signed the UN migration pact that his coalition partner, the centre-right Flemish group opposed. The opposition proposed a no confidence motion and he resigned.

Only took them 589 days to cobble together this coalition. The EU elections in May should be interesting.

This is so contrived it’s unbelievable.
He called a woman a woman.
If he had said “stupid women” or “women are stupid” then fair enough, generalisation.
If May had called him a stupid man there would be no uproar.
For what it’s worth I think they are both retarded

Like all good soaps our next prime minister didn’t die! I’m voting for John Smith [emoji23]

To be fair, like us unless we get Brexit, what need is there for a national govt anyway, the EU make all the rules (up as they go along) so half a dozen civil servants could sit on their arses all day rubbing stamping orders as received from Germany, sorry, the EU.

I couldn’t give a flying ■■■■ whether he called May a stupid woman or the opposition stupid people. He’s right and I’m sure millions agree with him whatever he said. Today it seems there has been a report released into the various Fire Services. One of the conclusions highlighted on the BBC was that the Fire services do not represent the local community, failing to represent the disabled, ethnic, gender and I think it said LBGT sections sufficiently. Yeah that’s my primary concern when my house is on fire. So a one legged, pink and yellow spotted transvestite, spouting some religious claptrap is the most qualified person to be a fireman (sorry Fire operative). OK if they genuinely are more competent then fine, but not if it is to meet some pathetic diversity target.

If it was any other leader bar Corbyn I would be persuaded to think it was a deliberate act in order to deflect attention from the trial at the Old Bailey which found Labour MP Fiona Onasanya guilty of perverting the course of justice. Her leave voting Peterborough seat has a Labour majority of just 607!

From what’s written in the Withdrawal Agreement that’s an absolute certainty as far as the UK is concerned.

Agreed. From a woman.

I’m sure you’ll all be pleased to hear that Juncker & co have awarded themselves a much needed pay rise. From January bureaucrats in the EU will be paid more than €20,000, Commissioners will be paid €26,600, and President Juncker will be paid €32,700 . . . per month!

That’s on top of the €45k/yr expenses allowance, free accommodation, untaxed pensions and immunity from prosecution whilst in the EU’s employ.

What are Labour now going to do if Theresa May continues to boot PARLIAMENT down the road, rather than Brexit?

We all know that BOTH houses are in dire need of reform.

May’s current direction she’s taking Parliament in - would seem to initiate that process…

Since she’s survived a vote of No Confidence, and Labour cannot table another concrete one for a year now - May can pretty much do anything she wants with Parliament - right up until March 29th 2019, at which point she need not even ask them over the final deal, since there isn’t going to be one, nor a general election, nor May stepping down.

May is now like Rameses II at the Battle of Kadesh… Legend has it that the oracles told him that he’d be dying at a distant future point, and “not today”.
If you ain’t gonna die today - then you are IMMORTAL until that future point, triggering the guy to go straight to the front line and fight it out of what looked like an almost impossible position to survive, let alone force a draw in a battle otherwise already lost. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34xVGVpyO40&list=PLkZrNs_yXfgSGwsY_E8oMbU0WYn_HNY_e

Corbyn has left a golden opportunity to bring May down - to chance, and well-and-truly dropped the ball. Keir Starmer - is now gonna have him anytime soon.
As a parliamentarian of four decades standing - Corbyn has been treated like the Parliamentarian he is by May, whilst Starmer has been treated like the de-facto leader of the opposition to be “got around”.

May’s biggest opponent in the months ahead - remainers Mark Carney and the senior Civil Service.

She might leave that to her successor though. Brexit happening “on time” - is her priority for what is left of her PMship.

Winseer:

You’re conflating two issues. The vote of No Confidence was brought by her own back benchers. Her success in this means she can’t suffer another Conservative Party leadership battle for 12 months. Corbyn tabled a motion of No Confidence in her as PM which the PM doesn’t have to recognise or allow time for. Any motion would therefore have to be taken in opposition time. Corbyn doesn’t want to table a motion of No Confidence in the government as he would lose triggering a clause in Labour Party Conference agreements that the party would press for a second referendum, which he doesn’t want.

If the DUP got really fed up, for instance, could Corbin actually avoid calling a ‘no confidence’ vote? If it became probable he could get such a vote past, wouldn’t be risk revolt in his own party if he didn’t?

We all know pretty much bugger-all really, but we all vote nonetheless “not knowing what we’re voting for”.

That is a two-edged sword, but the advent of social media has meant that all those “Career” pundits and politicians - are now routinely having their own remarks from their darker pasts - coming back to haunt them.

Britain hasn’t quite got to where America got to in 2016 yet - but it is getting closer by the day now.

“Don’t ask what your country can do for you, but rather what you can do for your country”.

If you are anti-nationalist, then you’ll be wanting to turn your country over then.
If you are PRO nationalist - you’ll be getting and doing - but putting up with being called “Hitler” all the time, which is fine and dandy if you’re thick-skinned enough like Trump.

Why did the “Live and let Live” Liberal society die off, and where did it all go wrong?

I’ve been a liberal most of my life, and it is only since the EU debate that I’ve found myself moving to the Right since.

…Perhaps it is because I’m always on the defensive these days?
There was once a time I didn’t give a toss about politics, didn’t care who was killing whom, and didn’t mind about who was going bust - a bit of an “I’m alright Jack” attitude if you will, in a union-protected secure job…

TODAY though? - My security in life is based upon my continued well-being, not being harmed by others, and not being accidentlly killed or neglected to death should I fall seriously Ill.

Thus, Law and Order + the desire for a well-run NHS - are now my priorities.

We don’t seem to be getting either of those from our mainstream parties though - do we?

If the Liberals “Never had it” - then where did it all go?

Did “Matron” really die with Hattie Jacques?
Did Law and Order get buried with Dixon of Dock Green?
Did Dixon trying to drive around London ever get to find his way outside the 406 again?
Did Fiona really “leave the business” following her creamy mess video?

Our institutions have been burned on the Altar of Political Correctness.
It seems daft that there are so many young brits wanting to study Medicine, despite the abuse they’ll end up getting once they actually try to find work.
Meanwhile, what youngster aspires to be a trucker any more?

A glut of “Doctors” - can only be bad for that social group of people.
A dearth of Truckers though? - Nice work if you can get it - is now back again, it seems…

With Corbyn and McDonnell being best buddies with Sinn Fein/IRA the DUP would rather stick pins in their eyes than side with Labour. Corbyn knows that whilst the DUP side with the government he cannot get a motion of No Confidence through the HoC. Defeat of that motion automatically triggers the Labour Party’s request for a second referendum.

TM is also playing chicken hoping that the DUP will side with the government come what may. But the DUP are notorious for sticking to their guns and when they say any backstop and they will bring the government down they mean it.

To be fair we Leavers have to be thankful for May’s appaling GE campaign, in which she threw away a 20 point lead, and the Soros backed Gina Miller amendment which forced the government to have a Meaningful Vote, otherwise this disgraceful Withdrawal Agreement would have been forced through and we would be on our way to being a vassal state. Curious how things work out.

It would seem they’ve also awarded themselves the right to randomly ruffle women’s hair without incurring the wrath of feminists, weeks of protests and a media storm, followed by weeks of analysis from political pundits. :open_mouth:

I wonder if the media would have been so quiet if another President had done that?

Yep the first scalp of the yellow vest protests, I wonder if it will give the movement more momentum?

French police are apparently protesting about pay and conditions and extra pay for policing the protests.

European Parliment election next year, I believe and also the EU Presidency comes up for election, not that the citizens of the EU get the privilege of voting for it, but the candidates are shortlisted by the European parliment and then elected by the council of ministers,
If the European Parliment have loads of populist/euro skeptic MEP’s and ministers from Italy, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Czech refuse to accept any centrists/ integrationist candidates it could be interesting times in the corridors of the EU.

Now would be a perfect time to resurrect the Spitting Image series.

No need, just watch Prime Minister’s Questions on the Beeb. Spitting Image couldn’t parody that.
