Chaos above while this idiot has managed to crash all by himself

And this ■■■■ would most likely have crashed even with winter tyres on and at a higher speed! He just might have them already… :grimacing:

You could be right.
You could just as easily be wrong though. It could be a hen.

Looking at some of those cameras, I’m glad I’m not working tonight.

I like the challenge and sense of adventure that driving in such conditions provide, but I had plenty of that last weekend. I think I’ll just stay here by the fire with this glass of whiskey tonight.

Good luck to all those that are out there. Stay safe.

I been sat under j27 for 5 hours now. Dont look like sth is moving anytime soon

M6 junctions 20 through 28 got a real hammering with snow last night…there’s 3inches of snow plus the ice that never cleared from last time.

oh and joy of joys it’s going to rain summat chronic on sunday — it’s jus havin a larf…

Hi guys, that was one hell-of-a-night! I went s/b through that lot at about 21-10hr to get to the control room, HGV’s were getting stuck on the up slopes, cars with posh low profile tyres got stuck trying to pass the HGV’s so everything stopped whilst it was all hands to the pumps to get the cars moving, unfortunately whilst this was going on, the snow was really coming down, because the traffic hadn’t moved for 10 -15 minutes, then there was no chance of any HGV moving, especially artics, they just folded and started to jacknife.
The M61 was similar at the slope N/B after Rivington services, even though we got it all cleared a few hours ago, a couple of Eddies have decided to play at J6 S/B,M61, fortunately traffic can go “up & over” the junction.
If traffic isn’t running then the snow doesn’t clear as it needs traffic to mix the salt about, then you get the blocked traffic, so can’t get the gritter in to regrit the road again.

Here are the 2 eddies presently on the M61 at J6

Its not that bad just people driving like idiots

It was actuall quite a fun night in a weird sense.
Spent most of the working day over on the east and didn’t see a flake of snow from the the latest adverse weather.
Set off from the yard at a little after 18:00 and decided on a5. Got outside of Oswestry and traffic was going slow (10mph and anything faster resulted on brakes getting slammed on). So ran up to the a55. I assume the powers that be organised the two tractors on scene to tow the artics up the incline?

Just before j35a we can to an abupt stop. Could make blue lights out on the horizon and nothing moved for about 45-60 mins. Hope everyone is/was ok IF it was anything serious.
Had to listen to some randomer moan about trucks In the snow and how they should be banned! To be honest I just mumbled something about him starving, pointed laughed and put the window back up.

Finally arrived home around 02:00 this morning.
To be honest, I couldn’t care about the time. I got back safe and well, no accidents no incidents so what do I have to complain about?

Be safe boys and girls

Last night was a good earner Chorley- Skelmersdale & back 9.5 hours at time & a half. did I mention that I should have been going to Lichfield.

So my thanks to all those arsholes, who went on the hard shoulder/lane3.
Dave.

Wasn’t quite as bad on the M61 and M65, but my eyes were out on stalks as I managed to negotiate all the stuck vehicles in my truck with manual gearbox selected and diff lock on, was quite proud of myself really, got tipped in burnley but no returns as my trailer which I was due to meet from the south never made it back up.
Ice road truckers, huh, we can show them here in blighty.

Glasgow-Ayrshire-Penrith normally 3hr 45mins last night 6 hours gets to the dual carriageway on the road to the truckstop fone goes just forget it head back to Glasgow glad im paid by the hour!

Actually the H/S is the last piece of c/way that will get gritted, unless of course it’s the only bit that will allow traffic movement, and that’s only on the most busy stretches of motorway, the quieter stretches don’t get gritted or ploughed unless everything else is done and it’s specially requested due to it’s location.
