Looks like another ones gone to the wall

looks like another company has bitten the dust this time it in the south west.
well known local company based in tiverton. i was in local scania dealer when i heard the news but i will not name until i can confirm for definate. but it looks like the baliffs/recievers walked in on friday and recalled all the wagons back to the depot. i believe about 17 in all, sorry for all the guys know one or two and have done some work for them myself.

If true, then another sad day for the Uk trucking industry. It’s quite frightning how many companies have folded this year alone.

Peter and Brenda if its what I heard its L&C and its true. :frowning:

not to hijack the thread, but whilst we’re on this subject. I wonder if many of you are aware that P & O Ferrymasters fleet of own trucks has been reduced by 40+% over the past few weeks?

How on earth are we youngsters supposed to get into work if we have no experience and cant get it if everyone is folding ;s

there’s a couple of others in the sw going too - one in Barnstaple has gone into administration and another one somewhere near exeter closed although nothing to do with costs but due to lost contracts

It’s quite simple really, you pack your bags and move across the English Channel, at the rate the UK’s Transport Industry is going down the Pan there’ll be plenty European Operators looking for Drivers with English Knowledge to drive their trucks in the UK

Of course it’s really a Myth that the British Haulage Industry is in a crisis, it must be, Gordon Brown & Co are refusing to accept that there’s anything wrong
:unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Less hauliers, Same demand, makes higher rates, Therefore higher wages.

Not as high and mighty as other companies lawyers are

if you really want to know as simple “can you PM me who it is” keeps us out of the court room. :bulb: :bulb: :bulb:

As I have said many many times, I dont like this imposition any more than you do, but until the responsibilty for untrue statements published on the internet by user generated content (e.g. Forum posts)is clearly defined by case law our hands are well and truly tied. We certainly dont want to be the test case.

Less Uk Hauliers Same Demand makes European Hauliers with lower costs more likely to carryout UK work Therefore not higher wages but more Foriegn trucks on our roads :unamused: :unamused:

You could be right. But maybe not as the rest of europe is in a worse state than us.

the answers yes big bear heard it from three or four diffent souces now so i am 95% sure its true. i have no reason to believe different. i will pm rikki to see if he can find out any more news on this.

No need for the PM , will see what I can find out tomorrow. so if everyone can just lay off the subject till then, I have let this one go to see how far we can push a discussion.

I genuinely believe there should be a compromise between genuine discussion of rumour and possible harmful groundless/malicious statements.

Unfortuantly at this moment in time the law doesnt agree… I will show this thread to the lawyers and see if we can push the boundary at least this far

This is only like a big cafe isnt it?

The times I have heard that Jack Smith is seeing to Fred Bloggs’s wife

or that

Tim Berhandler Transport have knocked 30 quid a tonne off the rate to get Wood Plank and Boards work.

It is driver gossip, we had it before mobile phones and spansets :stuck_out_tongue:

unfortunately wheelnut it ain’t that simple any more because its written down and millions of people can read it, if you just talk about something to a mate in the pub ect. that’s hear say which i believe has no standing in a court, and also its not published. now if you where to make the same statement on t.v. it too becomes published and that could be slander ect in a court, i know ti sounds a pain in the ■■■ but there are too many lawyers out there that want to make a name for them self and they ain’t making it at my expense
