he taught me everything from rope and sheet to repairing fuel lines at the side of the road !!!
bloody old taskmaster but his knowledge is second to none !!! although we did have a fall out and i ended up staying with bob burgess and bingo and albert (lessons in life with these people) i have been fortunate to spend my life around what i call the real truck drivers and owners and learnt alot from them !!! you all know who u are list is to long but most of you are on here .

I thought that was an Amesbury Motor to start with They had 167 and Then PHR170H but semed to miss 168 and 169

That looks like ATO CHEM loaded on them trailers from Le Harve if ime not mistaken, we did loads of that stuff for RH&D on SCAC trailers in the early 80’s.

im sure your right mate but i was only a nipper and i was in charge of undoing ropes and then while waiting i learnt how to rope back up and all in my school holidays !!! you wouldnt get away with it now !!! bloody H&S !!! dad made me do it time and time again even in the pouring rain !said any fool can do it with the sun on there backs but not so much fun in the cold and wet .
and now ive got diesel in the veins and cant get away !

I was able to get to the yard for a few hours yesterday Sue has settled down a little, thankfully, in her reaction to her latest course of chemopherapy!

As usual Pat Scorey came in to see me and after that I had another guest George or ‘BigGUnit’ as he is known on here, had a very pleasant few hours with him exchanging stories.

Then later still we had another visitor I say ‘we’ as he really came in to see Terry Moody a very sprightly Colin Philpot who is now 72 years old!!!

I seem to remember this Don Bush Roadtrain had drive to the trailer wheels they called it ‘Multidrive’ or something like that!!

Hay there TT,don’t know too much about his days back then but will ask him when i talk to him on Sunday.I can tell you that Smiths of Axford are still going,but only timber and coal now
