No Pat, although i did think about it.
charlie one:
My three guesses are DHL,Maersk or Royers.Regards Charlie
Not bad guesses Charlie, but incorrect.
MaggieD:
Yet another reminder of SRF aye Pat. Dunno if you remember or indeed even knew about my let,s say relationship with someone in the
office while i was working there. Came about after my accident and while i worked in the wharehouse for a while.
Soon became common knowledge . I expect Sue will remember Pat. Was all fine til the missus found out.
Tony, No wonder Andre always had a smile on his face
3 guesses are :- New Milton Sand and Gravel, Pitters,& Hayes Fareham
Whoever it is I hope it works out well for you.
Regards Richard

charlieone,
Hi Charlie I’ve just had a message from GAZ IOW he returns to these shores on the 26th of this month, and is keen to make the long trek to Alton (he’s already trying to get night out money and a Plus.!) I know Gerbil wants to accompany us, but I think judging from the photo you had better warn the residents of your care home
I think Jim is coming and anyone who else fancies coming along let us know, and I’ll get a minibus.
Regards Richard
MaggieD.Hi Richard. That man in the photo with his pyjama jacket on is a fearsome sight! He would fit in well in our care home D Don,t give him any night out money. He will only BLOW it.Does this trip up here mean I will have to have a shave and put on clean underwear? Looking forward to it.I have asked Matron and she said I can stop out untill 8.30.Yippee.Regards Charlie
Jimski, Ainacs, Charlie one, Shady, Gaz IOW, and MaggieD
Thanks once again lads and yes Shady it,s cab hopping initially unfortunately, not ideal as no one ever seems to leave
but it,s a permanent job, better money and better facilities. They fired a driver recently, hence the opening for me.
I,ll be based in Soton, but will also be required to travel to and work out of their Isle of Grain or Tilbury depots, all travelling time
and expenses paid for. Should be getting 3, 4 or even 5 nights out per week which suits me fine and they seem to have plenty of
weekend work if wanted which pays well. I,ll be 60 in a couple of weeks so hopefully this will see my time out.
Re the trek to Alton Rich it would probably be a last minute thing for me, so could,nt commit i,m afraid.
Dont write me off though, it would be great to see you old boys again, and i,d like a word with Charlies matron to see if she can
squeeze me in at a later date.
How many of the Southampton drivers remember Mack hauliers who had a depot in Belvidere behind the old gas works. As a trailer mate in the silvertown depot we carried sugar to the old town quay. There were never less than half a dozen in the area at any given tine. Later the firm was taken over by BRS. On a later firm Union Cartage Company we had a depot there and the transport manager was Sid Pugh who may have been the one mentioned earlier. Also Macks deliverred loads to Fawley when they were building the place and had to be dragged on and off the site by bulldozers. Regards, Bill S.
Hi All, Hey Richard i would like to go with you boys on your outing, i see that Gaz is still out the country, im away my self for a week in France on me Harley, but ill be back the day before GazIOW ( on 25th) so let me see what work Ive got in when i get back and see what we can put together is that ok bud ■■( I can get 4 in the merc, I dont drink so i dont mind driving)
Hey Mappo im sure youll make it !!
Hi Pat might pop in on Thurs for the photos and the DVD if youve done with it. Regards Jimski

Hi Bill, i reckon Mack hauliers were before my time, however i do remember U.C.C. Was,nt their depot in the docks ■■?
I,m sure that if T.I.R.original reads this he will give you more info.
Ainacs…Dont recall Southampton Warehousing Company Pat, although the year that Atki was new i was working out of Fareham for Lucketts
and then went on for Hayes over the water so did,nt really touch Soton for a number of years.
As i said above i,m sure Nobby will know aye.
Hi I think UCC had a depot in that little road behind G J Coopers Lower canal Walk I seem to remember. Sid Pugh, Malcolm Gillam, Jumbo Lewis and Jim Copely all worked there
ainacs:
Anyone remember this company the Southampton Warehousing Company?
Hi Pat,didn’t S’oton Warehousing do bulk wine off the ships.Im sure I’ve seen a pic of an AEC MK5 Mandator of their’s somewhere loading vino.I notice the tank with the Atki is ATW - alcohol tank wagon, and the offloading valves are in a locker with a padlock.

I’ll tek me anorak off now
Chris you never fail to amaze me with your extensive knowledge.I was about to say that that was an alcohol tank. However I,m not sure about unloading directly off ships.Where are you Nobby? He will know. When I worked for Harp Lager we used to pump beer on to the cruise liners.Another bit of useless info! Regards Charlie
Hi Charlie,I’ve searched all over for the Mandator artic loading wine off a ship but can’t find it,it’s bugging me now.
I’m not sure about my extensive knowledge though. The lids have covers that can be locked and sealed by Customs and I think it says 4500 4 on the tank as well which I presume means 4500 gall and 4 compartments.Did you get any Harp Lager free samples?
I found one of an AEC MK3 in a wine lake:-
HI Chris. We used to get two bottles per day For each day worked plus six bottles for the weekend. So on a five day week that was sixteen bottles. Then I used to take the empties round to the pub and get money back.No I am not a Yorkshireman.Just frugal Regards Charlie

That sounded like a decent job Charlie and money back on t’empties as well, can’t be bad - you would have made a good Yorkshireman like me.
All I ever got when on tankers was bloody chemical fumes and maybe a drop of acetone for wife’s nails
