Hi tribsa
Hall & Co were a Croydon company that had spread into Kent & Sussex. They bought centrally in London and sometimes in Brighton. They expanded into readymix concrete and were eventually bought by the RMC group who were Australian owned at that time, the mixers were merged into the Readymix fleet and tippers became Hall Aggregates

Done it in three Dave ( ermmm double manned of course )   and i,m sure that others have done it twice as quick. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Anyone else do these ATO loads for SCAC out of Pompey■■?

Hi Tone
Are u sure thats not Fertilizer fron Avonmouth in the first two pics.

Well done Rich, you spotted my deliberate mistake.
We used to tip the ATO in Neath and re-load from Avonmouth, usually to a place near Petersfield.

I think that you are wrong there. Their Head Office was in Molly Millars Lane, Wokingham, Berks, certainly in the 1970s.

John S

You may well be right Wessexman but the yard with a lot of large plant in was at Bentley when I was a kid and some of it was still there a couple of years ago

Tone
you used to bring alot into us at SCATS as well.
That was when one of your ex Davies leaders drove a real lorry & did some real work for a couple of weeks

Are we talking J.D. with his bubble Rich?

Must have been cos when i started with Buzzer, Beana and Horrie were still at school.

Hi Tone
No it was an ex Transport manager that is now a lead driver on his current firm he had a SCATS Bison for a couple of weeks.

Hi Rich, there was only ever one transport manager in those days or indeed at any time til the boys took
over the running of the firm, and that was the man himself J.D. ( buzzer )
There were however a couple of drivers that had a spell in the office, namely Dave Morgan and Gary ( gooj ) Andrews.
I assume you,re referring to the latter.

■■■■ Hampton were the “muck shifting” contractors for the Southampton section of the M27. My company did a lot of business with them during their time on the M27 as well as the A38 when it was “duelled” between Exeter and Plymouth (part of) and they were also based on the old airfield at the rear of what is now Membury Services while working on the M4. All their accounts were directed to and paid from Wokingham as I know that I had to pay regular visits to get paid. I believe that they eventually folded mid to late '70s

Yet another of Marc’s Scrapbook Thread pics with a local connection Lamberts Bros again.

With all respect Wessexman,I think that you are way out regarding ■■■■ Hampton.Motto “Dig deep for ■■■■ and throw well back”.I drove a low loader for him in the sixties and seventies and no way was the head office in Wokingham. It was at Blacknest near Bentley. Maybe you are thinking of another Hampton. There was a William Hampton. Also I thought that the plant yard was at Hermitage an the site of an old brickworks.I remember getting enough brickettes to build several fireplaces.Naturally I paid for them! I will be interested to hear your comments.Regards Charlie.

Hi Charlie,

When I first met Ginger Ainsley off STS in the early 70’s he was working at ■■■■ Hampton’s at Bentley, can’t believe it’s nearly 40 years ago !

Regards Richard

Hi Richard.Yes I remember when Ginger first started at ■■■■ Hampton. He had just come out of the RAF.He knew nothing. No change there! I hear you say.Sorry.Could not resist.Best regards Charlie.
