Going Back to one of my earlier posts this was from a list of Scania owners around 1970
■■■■ Hampton (Earth Moving) clearly marked down as Alton which is in Hampshire about 6 miles from Bentley
Regards Pat
Hi Pat.Yes you are correct about ■■■■ Hampton being from Hampshire. Also the driver was a good old Hampshire boy.Unless my eyes are deceiving me,it was Owen Furey RIP who was the father of Kevin Furey. Am I not full of useless information? Regards Charlie.
Marc (Bubbleman) has just added this pic of ■■■■ Hampton’s 110 from 1972 on to his Scrapbook thread anyone recognise where it was taken?
Regards Pat
Hi Pat.Yes I know exactly where that picture was taken. It was at ■■■■ Hamptons Head Office.Blacknest,Bentley and as you say about six miles from Alton. The driver was definately Owen Furey ( McGinty) RIP. Is there a prize for this.I will take the gin.Best regards Charlie.
[qWith all respect Wessexman,I think that you are way out regarding ■■■■ Hampton.Motto “Dig deep for ■■■■ and throw well back”.I drove a low loader for him in the sixties and seventies and no way was the head office in Wokingham. It was at Blacknest near Bentley. Maybe you are thinking of another Hampton. There was a William Hampton. Also I thought that the plant yard was at Hermitage an the site of an old brickworks.I remember getting enough brickettes to build several fireplaces.Naturally I paid for them! I will be interested to hear your comments.Regards Charlie.uote]

With sincere apologies to everyone concerned I must bow to each ones superior knowledge. In this case I seem to have had a senior moment and am getting mixed up with another company. I have consulted with an ex colleague who did deal with ■■■■ Hamptons on site and he confirms everything that has been said. I definitely went to an office in Wokingham to collect cheques for overdue accounts for this company and can only think that this must have been sometime toward the end of their life when maybe payments were being paid by an administrator. John S.
Hi Wessexman. No need for apologies.I have been having senior moments for the last forty years. You are just starting yours now.Best regards Charlie.

Here as you said one of Pitter Bros Ivecos on contract to Van Omeran courtesy of Marc’s (Bubbleman) Scrapbook thread, outside the Southampton Dock gate 10? which was closed many years ago when the Freeport was opened.
