Saw this on Bubbleman’s excellent ‘Scrapbook’ thread anyone know anything about it?
An early Seddon with ‘City of Southampton’ on the headboard presumably coming off the ferry with a TIR tilt trailer.
Regards Pat

I will get Mum to look through the pictures she has. She has a lot of pictures from when Dad was in Saudi & Libia. I will see if she will look for any from the old yard at Smithers.
Hi Anthony, welcome to the thread mate.

First truck I ever bought, 180 Gardner, DB box. ex Dukes Mills at Bishops Watham. Paid £700, and Bob Pester helped me paint it !! Froze to death in the winter, cooked in the summer, 100% reliable though and pulled like a train. Was on contract to MIFS International !!!
Bought a Scania after that, bloody luxury, then an F88, bloody luxury with a bed !!

Hi Pat & Chaps
I will try to dig out the original artical that Bubbs pic came from but in the meantime I think it is one of PBC Europeans lorries ( Public Benefit Coal ) & if the gray matter is correct they were in the coal yard at Fishers Pond which is now Eveasons/Corrals.
I think they became part of British International.
Lets hope we find someone that was older than me at the time to get things exact.

Yes I remember the Clapcotts had a horrible blue/green tankers did a lot of black oil work, and had a yard at what is now Dibles Wharf, Millbank St I think and they also had a yard at Mannings Heath Poole where Graham was most of the time.
Trevor and Seymore both served their apprenticeships at AEC at Southall and used to cycle there early Monday morning and back on a Friday!!!
They still own the workshop and yard at Nutsey Lane and rent it to the Man agent, Testwood Motors■■?
Not sure if this was one of their motors parked at Totton if not it was probably one of Totton Tar’s.
Regards Pat
yes they still own the nutsey lane land, they sold the one by the new dell, also theres commecial garage premises owned somewere aswell cant remember exactly
they had a terrible father who stopped them from getting married etc, symore bless him isnt to well, graham is now in a home, he had a terrible robbery against him some years ago, and trevor lives tarrant hinton. he basicly doesnt have a lot of pics etc from his past would be nice to find some stuff for him

I,m sure Rich, that TirOriginal will remember if that was a PBC motor.
They could well have been at Fishers Pond, but i only remember them at Sholing as PBC, then Cabmont and
then as you say British Int.

Well you always were just that little bit behind the rest Tone !!!
Yellow , is the colour you’re looking for mate !!!
MIFS, The owner was a bit sad, the manager a bit tired, and the driver, well, what can you say about him ? Saw him recently, but he’s not changed much, just a bit uglier !!!
Long time since then Tone, about 42 years I guess. Time don’t stop still much does it !!
Thanks Dave, for yet again some fine compliments. ( NOT )
Always good to know that i can rely on the ******* that got me into this game in the first place.
As for MIFS i guess people will be wondering who the bloody hell we,re talking about aye.
If there,s any interest i,ll let you have the pleasure mate.
BFN…Tony
