Long Departed Southampton Hauliers (Part 1)

Hi Steve thats the trouble with learning to read & write so late in life & not being able to sign on here until the other day :unamused: you have missed so many pages. I sold up 18 months ago, sort of semi-retired, doing a bit of agency when the fancy takes me. I hope you are fit and well and still working, another 6 months and I’ll be collecting my pension, all contributions gratefully received. Gavin

Hi Gavin…Did’nt realise it was so long ago since we last meet, but then thinking about it i’ve been on the scanner’s now over 3yrs,still its nice to know your keepin your hand in,'cos you can get rusty when you get on!!!.
If you ever speak to Merv tell him Ray Caswell has been trying to get hold of him,he’ll know why…
There is a big night out in Oct for all the boys that went to Spain & Portugal, if your interested let me know, this yr will be No.6 and they are brill…Look after yourself. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

With reference to the dodgy photo that Ainacs posted on the previous page,
Gerbil, Gaz IOW, Tribsa, Shady and Maggie D, for your information Pat,s camera is
obviously faulty and does not create a true image. :unamused: :unamused:
Thanks anyway for your complimentary comments, ( NOT ) nice to know who my friends are.
Seriously though it was great to see both Pats. For a 75 year old i must admit he did put me to shame.
Pat Scory that is. …Oh and thanks for the cuppa Pat ( Duffy )

Hi Tony you are most welcome it was a pleasure to see you, and yes my phone is not that good at taking pics

Found this pic of two of your hecklers Tribsa and Maggie D

Hiya Tony. Despite what others are saying I think you looked a fine figure of a man in that photo taken with Pat S., even with Pats’ dodgey camera !! But I must say not quite as handsome as the couple portrayed by “Old Trucker” earlier in the thread taken at his house in France. By the way I’m now beginning to wonder what that Shady looks like nowadays. Bet it ain’t the same young ‘go faster’ slimline modle that I used to run Portugal with.

Hi Pat,
Thanks for that, we certainly look like a couple of sad muppets
Regards MaggieD

Hi Fergie

Had a chance meeting with Jimmy Alford yesterday and mentioned the ‘Seddon Haulier’ who pulled out of Dimplex, he said the name Derek Reeves from Woodlands had about 4 lorries in a horrible greeny brown colour.!

Is that who you mean?

Regards Pat

Pat.

Well done mate, been bugging me since the post about Terry Winters.
Yep indeed it was Reeves, I guess gone now. like so many others.
Have’nt seen Jimmy Alford for years, hope he’s keeping well, is he still into lorries ?
Will be meeting Mappo this Sunday at the Wheatsheaf at Shedfield, mid-day all going well, no doubt we’ll do a few million miles between us, in between a beer or two. Be nice to catch up on people and remember a few no longer with us. If you could make it, we could do a few more miles !!!
Fergie

Hi Fergie

Yes he is long gone now Dimplex took him for about £23,000 years ago and Jimmy reckons the worry brought on cancer and he died a couple of years later.

Jimmy is fine playing a lot of golf infact he is off to Majorca soon to play over there with Bill Wettering. Jimmy sold his fleet to a company from Felixstowe,Debens who now rent his old yard at Nursling, he is into property development and has a lot of commercial premises rented out.

I will try to make it out to the Wheatsheaf on Sunday at midday to see you both

Our host Tim

Anyone know who is who??

Mind you it wasn’t long till you know who was banished to outside the pub

Dont know any of them…give us a clue Pat…Cribbage Club? TocH residents? Escapees from The Priory?

So is Mr. Sheppard up for a little deluge in August? Was your visit a surprise to him?
