Seeing that pic of the Bakers erf with the Coopers Arms behind, Pat, reminds me of when Dave Moss RIP was on for Eric
and swerving to avoid an accident, in one of those same motors, demolished the pub. He made it as far as the bar before
coming to a stop ripping the roof off the cab, he sat there as the dust settled amazed that he had remained unscathed, when
a solitary brick fell from a great height onto his head putting him the General. Luckily the pub was closed at the time and the only occupant was an old lady asleep upstairs who escaped unhurt.

Didn’t that Maltese bloke who used to drive for Compton drive the Aquila one ?
Kerbut…
No mate that was John Nicolls truck,i don’t think John[maltese falcon] drove for John Nicolls. He had 2 or 3 trucks towards the end.
The last time i saw the falcon he was driving for an Italian firm, but that was 5 or 6 years ago.anyway nice to hear from you again matey.

Spot on old chap thought the thread was running dry for a minute
May the 16th steam rally in Winchester sorry mate
Just thought that some of you guys on this thread might have known ‘Hanzy’
I’ve put it on the ‘Davies International’ and the PDF threads.
This is a link to an article that was in my local paper today about a driver who passed away recently
halifaxcourier.co.uk
The Final Journey for a Lorry Lover
His wife said in the article that, Alnis Hans (Hanzy) from Halifax, last job was with ‘Davies International, Hampshire’ and he used to go away for six weeks at a time, and that he had done European work for all of his driving life.
If any of you guys worked with him I hope this hasn’t come too much of a shock, he was only 56
My condolences to his family and fiends.
Regards

The thing thats troubling me Rich about that top photo is that i dont even remember R & G ever
having tautliners, thought it was tilts only.
I did actually drive for them briefly in 1994 when Maurie McNess was there. ( drove Jim Streets old Daf )
I left on good terms even though i had to suddenly leave without notice due to my missus R.I.P.
being diagnosed with the dreaded terminal C.
Say what you like about Mc.Ness, but he was bloody good to me at the time.
I had a couple of years off the road and later returned to Buzzers.
Shady
More good pics there Steve mate, certainly giving your age away though.

Have replied on the Davies thread.
I met Maurie Mc Ness brother several times when he drove for Maurie, even he said his brother was an a***hole.
I heard today that Terry Winter who ran some trucks out of Fritham has died
Regards Pat
Hello Pat
Met Terry a few times way back in the early 70’s. I remember he ran either an AEC or Leyland ergo sleeper cabbed 4 wheeler on the continent. I can’t remember the name of the driver, but he was a really nice bloke, I ran with him several times to Italy. So, RIP Terry Winters.
Who was the company out the same way Pat, who ran a brown-ish Seddon on Dimplex contract out of Millbrook ?
I think there may have been a connection with Terry ? same yard, or shared bunkering facilities ?
It’s a long time ago and the old grey matter is going awol.
Hi Fergie
Not Tony Gaitral? That name rings a bell or was he from Marchwood?
Regards Pat
