Youre right it did have a strange gearbox two sticks but I only used one
But just remember my boy I learnt to drive on a David Brown box wasnt allways a Volvo person :frowning:

Just remember I knew you on Mays Motors wnen you were a nipper. They didn’t call you cruncher for no reason eh?Why did you pack in Cranleigh Airiels?

Yes Gary it was Cardin he had a Daf 2800 in Sea Route colours before that White!

Regards Pat

I remember an issue with the brakes. More specifically the air pipe fittings were “UK Gas” items and not specific for truck pressures due to the modifications to the brakes for UK C&U regulations hence the brake failure Mind you this is second hand info.

Hi Gary

From what I understood Cardin had asked for an exhaust/jake brake but the White dealership had told him that the brakes were so good he would not need one! How ever I think the brakes failed coming down the Cerdon and he eased the White into the side but having so light a chassis, although he was not going that fast one chassis rail was pushed back over a foot I think!

That’s why they took it back!!

Not sure was only a lowly fourwheeler driver at the time

Regards Pat

Blimey that brings back memories! I remember passing him before
it was recovered. Luckily he’d done the steep bit and had passed the
monument hairpin.
