Hi all well that’s Christmas over now for the New Year
Another one of Bubblemans gems but this has me a little puzzled as I thought that C Morgan and Sons from Watham Chase just outside Southampton were lorry breakers, into trailer rental and at one time a MAN dealership can’t remember them being heavily involved in haulage accept for loading their own export containers!!! I dare say our learned readership will know better
Regards and a Happy New Year to All

Pat
There was a C (? ) Morgan at Shaftsbury,could it be them ?

There was a C (? ) Morgan at Shaftsbury,could it be them ?
Kerbut
No, this is Charlie Morgan at Waltham Chase, near Bishops Waltham.
They were a very bid breaker of vans, lorries, and ex military vehicles, and had a big export business., mainly to the third world countries.
The business is nothing like it use to be in it’s hay day in the '50.s - '60’s and '70,s. The truck repair workshop is now for MOT’s of cars / vans.
As far as I’m aware ( I use to live a mile away from them ) they never ever had a haulage business., just for their own export of vehicles and containers. Before they had the MAN franchise, I think they had the Foden, but that was way back.
Kerbut I think that was C B Morgan and weren’t they dark green in colour? I think they may well still be operating not sure though!
Thanks Fergie, in Eric Morgans day they were massive in the breaking game and had yards all over the place, Derek now runs the business and unfortunately it is a shadow of it’s former glory.
I wasn’t sure about the transport side but you have confirmed what I thought, I know that they had a fair trailer hire fleet, I think we hired a lowloader off them a few times years ago, and I often saw export containers being loaded in their yard with one of their MANs on the front.
Regards Pat
Hi all happy New Year
This is new to me but here goes
Idont rember C.Morgan ever having a haulage fleet only to deliver & collect parts espcially ex MOD cages They did have a trailer renal service.
The front garage which sold MANs is called Rosehill Garage and yes they were Foden dealers before
My farther bought a couple from them just as thet became MAN dealers in about '73/74.
Spartrucks at Andover became the Foden dealer reverting to the fullSparshatt name but were not as good as Ron Morgan who runs the garage
Tribsa
Morgans at shaftesbury , not sure if they are still going?? was , if i am correct , something to do with Craig Vincent , He owned SMV of Yoevil , by coincidence , SMV are MAN dealers !!. Morgans are dark green and run MAN"s !!! The plot thickens !!
I dont think the two Morgans are related buit as always could be wrong.
The ones from Waltam Chase are two tone blue & were connected with brooklyn land rover in Chadlers Ford Now part of SHB Group
Morgans of Shaftsbury are still going and a member of this site maintains some of their trailers
