Hi Richard, do you know of me now,
Hi Ainacs, i wonder if you can remember having a volvo F 88 on your “junk pile”. cream ,with an orange stripe. with louis bull on side. reg no RHO 74T. if my memory serves me correct,
It used to be my dads truck, and the last time i saw it was in the corner of your yard. i wonder if you could shed any light on it ■■
thanks kev

Hi Kev

Don’t recall us ever having a Volvo on our pile as we dealt mainly in Scania spares!

However I did rent a yard next to mine to Dave Coombes who was the Volvo spares man, thats where it probably was.

Regards Pat

Found a pic of Louis Balls 88.

Hope its of interest.

Cheers Marc.

Hi Pat,
Thanks for the info, All i remember is looking from the motorway in the direction of your yard and seeing RHO looking rather worse for wear . When i think of the amount of times she went on a scotch run , it was sad to see her looking so rejected, how bloody sad am i !!
Thanks again, Kev

Not sure if you already have this one Kev

Thanks Dreva that Scania was one of mine. According to the caption it was taken on the A6 at Nemours (Paris-Lyon) 1988.

Fred Croucher

Who remembers Fred ? I used to drive for him when he had the
4 Mans 16-232 with column change. In those days like many others
we used to take the trucks home, but worked mainly for Begards at
the bottom of Four Post hill, which was run by Jimmy Gavigan doing the
Cape fruit out of Soton docks. I,m sure many of you lads will remember what that involved.
All day loading in those bloody gullys and then night
shift to deliver to the markets, which could be from the old Covent Garden
or Spitalfields to Glasgow.
We used to find our own return loads and Fred paid us a basic wage
and then a percentage of the trucks earnings.
Much to the dismay of his neighbours, Fred used to obtain cheap diesel
delivered in 45 gallon drums to his house in Chandlers Ford, so at all times of the day or night
we,d trundle down the residential street to syphon the deisel into our trucks.
Unfortunately i,ve got no pics.

HI Tony

Did Colin Grimes of Anco Trucking used to work for Fred before he was transpot manager for P Brady?

Regards Pat

Not when i was there Pat.

The drivers then were Me, Bluey ( RIP ),Douggie and Bob Pester.
