Hi Maggie D, yes your nearly right about John w , before Mammoths packed up JW and John Buckley ( who already had 2 trucks in mammoth livery) decided to team up and run out of andover when mammoths finished. they ran from there for quite some time, then they came back to southampton in the guise of Dockside Services, running tractors from bassildon to dockgate 4.
Eventually selling up and starting PMP Logistics, firstly from felixstow then from fareham. Also les emery, one of your old employs i believe,is working for him again ,
it’s quite obviouse that what ever JW touches turns to GOLD…

HI im glad some one has got that article as i was only telling MRS Sling about it two weeks ago. I sore Pefer Phippin ploding around souhthampton docks in a white ERF. Hence the story two mrs sling (how sad am i)
A few of us sat in the messroom having a tea break when I was a fitter at BI
heard a noise outside. We thought somebody had dropped a trailer on it’s
knee’s but we were wrong this is what we saw when we went out.
Somebody parked on the steam cleaning bay ready to be cleaned for it’s
MOT which is on a slope and it was not me. The ratchet handbrake did not
work so it was parked on the deadman. Not having spring brakes on either
when the air ran out so did the brakes what made it worse it was loaded with
24 tons of rubber out of Exxon Fawley.
So a big crane was hired the idea was to lift the back of the trailer up attatch
a chain to the AEC and the other end to a loaded truck then pull foward then
lower it on solid ground. But sometimes nothing goes right.
This is the AEC when it was still on the road used for MOT’S and breakdowns

Thanks Dreva, that would be gr8. My father used to work for Louis Bull, then Mammoths at belgrave rd. I like most drivers used to go with my dad on every trip i could when i was a lad… those were the days…
We must have been poor in our house though, don’t seem to have any photo’s of way back then !!!
Did Bulldog turn into Black? Lion or somebody like that? They had yellow motors, I’m sure one of their drivers told me that, mind you it was in a resturaunt in France or Italy so I would’ve been ■■■■■■ at the time
