Thanks for that, doin’ ok ta.
Seeing that pic of RK Crisps put me in mind of Dickie Hamilton sometimes referred to as ‘Juanita’ owing to a lonesome tooth in his smile. He worked for Crisps in the 70’/80’s previously working for Charlie Jameson among others. I last saw him working in Pentalvers many years ago.

Yes another good old name from the past, Tommy Colclough. He was originally from Littleborough, Lancs. He lived and was raised in a cottage opposite Fothergill & Harvey, (I only know that because I used to deliver there and he told me). I first met Tommy in the early 60’s when he had moved down this way and was driving for Taylors of Sutton Scotney. Hants. Yes thats correct the coach people. They had just the one lorry, an old 1950’s AEC Mamoth Major 8 wheeler, which Tommy drove and found the work for. In latter years he went on to drive for various company’s in Southampton (including Walter Hattons) before branching out on his own. The old Migarus Deutz was bought off a friend of mine and he wouldn’t listen when I lold him NO !!
When on Hattons, the drivers relieved the docks of a few frozen lambs and the police raided the yard on a tip off. Tommy had an old converted ambulance and just before the police arrived was seen going down the road with the front wheels barely touching tarmac ha ha ha!! I bet he still laughs about it to this day. Smashing bloke, we should get him on here !!!
As always TIR, a very informative post mate.
You certainly seem to have an encyclopedic memory. I,m impressed.
Liked the tale about the getaway.
Is Tommy still around then ■■?
This does,nt really belong on this thread, but what the hell.
The road sign is a bit of a givaway, but remember this Gazza ■■?

If "Old Trucker"s " got this right !!! there should be something of interest here !!! This photobucket thing is as bad as some of these gearboxes these days !!! give me a twelve speed foden anyday !!!
On the Cave Wood thread there is a comment about female drivers.
In the 70’s, Anne Phillips “The Mother Trucker” drove for her Dad an F89 doing “twist lock turkeying” from the berth. Anyone remeber her?
I Remember Anne Philips Gazza, she was transport manager for
this lot when they had a few motors based in Greenwoods yard at
Rownhams. I did my first trip abroad in this Big J with a flat trailer, took
fencing panels out to Holland ( cant think where ) and chipboard back.
Anne also drove for a company i,ve not seen mentioned yet on this thread
Keelhaul from Hamble. One of the magazines did a write up on a trip to
Italy i think it was about her.
Forgot to mention, Annes ex is a contributor to this forum.
