Hi All, Not the plan for my first post but just seen this and thought I had to say: … I first knew Jim in his Speedway days in the '60s and found him to be a great bloke. He was an “elder statesman” in the sport even then and went on to have the longest ever career at that time retiring from racing in 1975. I called in to see him a few times in the '70s at his yard at Chandlers Ford where he would often be working in the workshop which suprised me somewhat. He once told me he wasn’t too bothered about running the international stuff but Barry wanted to “have a go”. Over the years we lost touch but I heard he had retired to Spain so was a bit surprised to read in a Veteran Speedway related publication that he had past away in September 2004 in a nursing home in Devon. A great bloke and one I am proud to call a friend.
May I say thank you all for this wonderful site which I know I will spend many a happy hour on, probably too many if the first few days is anything to go by but then I have got a lot of catching up to do.
Ive posted a thread on Rijba Transport. I meant to put it on here but I messed
up and posted it as a new topic. I’m sure some of you has knowledge of them
Whats the link between this lot
and this lot?
Lurking in there are 2 R&A Freight Maggies…one driven by himself and the lovely herself. I think it was Mr. Mahoneys. I think the foto was at Novara.
Oi! John! Where’s this then?
Pat Scorey “Scorey with a P” chaperoned me on my first trip to Italy. 2 loads of stainless steel for Eric Baker to Metalcom Milano. I unloaded first, Pat helped me strip out. He went to get his lump hammer only to find the MAN had gone from the front gate!

Alright Gaz? Nice pic of the R&A maggies never could get on with the gearbox on the 232 but the 310 WNY 19 T was mine for about 18mnths and was a good tool till I killed it trying to drive it thru a bulker at Dartford Tunnel!
Hills in their “Blue” period.
You were welcome to 'em Gary.
Hi Gary you can improve your pics with the edit button and auto fix and contrast buttons and then replace original like this

Thanks Pat. It seems like a powerful editing tool. Altered some I have yet to post.
Mappo’s new wagon!
Being inspected by customs before leaving Italy for the UK. Note the effort made to reduce tyre wear and headlight bulbs! the airfoil door can be left in the up position to gain aerodynamic stability at high speed, thus getting another trip in per month.
And Mappo, by your attire, I would say that you actually deserve that motor !!
really suits you !
Tony as Fergie says it’s ideal for you but you may need stabilisers as it looks like you may be overweight on the front axle !
When you have mastered that one, I have arranged for this young lady to put you through your 3 wheeler Class 1 licence.

AH! Angela. Just as i remember her!
Pat: Is this one you know? I’m sure it was taken in Soton in the early 70’s. MTK598H
Ahem! This one…
Hang on MaggieD. You’ve jumped too far for todays regulations. Tony would have to drive one of these for at least a year before moving up to the big time with that Saviem!
Gazzer and MaggieD.
At least he’ll have to find all 3 of us if he gets the hump !!!
He’s always wanted to kill me for getting him into driving in the first place. This may tip him over the top !!!
Fergie
Hi Gary
Don’t recall this one but I seem to remember didn’t a chap called Dave Adams(I think) have a black and white 110 he drove all over the place?
Regards Pat
