Wynn who is standing in front of Gordon Crittal she was in sales doing paperwork and always the one who got on the phone to DVLA booking our blocks of GEL numbers for the new trucks we bought, now we just transfer them as the DVLA got greedy with the money and most have been on several new motors, Cheers Buzzer.

Yep Wynn who used to be in accounts in the “air conditioned” computer office. Computers needed to be kept cool back then. Bronwyn was in there too.

The father of the brothers was a builder I think? One son went into farming, the other 2, Tony and Ray started with tippers for his building business.
They had some Bedford asphalt tippers painted in yellow and green Limmer & Trinidad colours, with their name on the cab doors. That job ended about 1976?
They had 2 or 3 tippers on distance work at that time similar to the one in the pic. Scrap out of Pirelli cables or maybe dredged aggregate from Northam out, and coal back. Those were sold late '70’s I think. A tipping artic trailer with a donkey engine was bought late 70’s or early 80"s. Scrap from Pirelli again going up the road, maybe coal back, but they also got into some grain and agri stuff.
They had an 8x2 ERF flat (C reg?)that might have been a tipper earlier in it’s life, with them, but not sure. OK on hard surfaces but would have been no use on quarry or anything very uneven as the driven axle could loose contact with the ground!

CFAT Pitters
Rob…This picture brings back memories from my 3 years from 1970 with Robert Baillie of Horndean, based at their
Wigan depot. Almost each time I delivered Guernsey Tomatoes to Bradford, Leeds, Maltby, and Wakefield, there was
one of Pitters lads delivering potatoes or tomatoes from Jersey. All Handball, none of it was on pallets.
The only Guernsey Tomatoes that came via Baillies Wigan depot were for Belfast, Glasgow, and Liverpool. Cheers, Ray.
Very sad day it is as I have to tell you all of the passing of Derek Miller aka D.F.Miller Haulage in the early hours after a long illness, we first met at the Wiltshire Agricultural college near Chippenham in the late 60’s when we were teenagers doing a 1 year course together, on leaving college Derek moved from his home in the Mendip’s and lodged with my family and as time progressed we both ended up in the transport game albeit separately. We remained friends throughout a span of over 50 years our birthdays only two days apart and Derek & Lin his wife were often at ours enjoying a Chinese take away on a Saturday night.
Derek knew a lot of people in the transport world and many of you would have known him, he remained driving until his Illness forced him to quit. He will be missed greatly by all and our sincere condolence’s to Lin, Damien & Liam, sleep tight my friend from all the Davies family.
Hi all, John that’s a bit of a shock about Derrick i speak to Richy who drove for him for the last few year’s he said he has been not in the best of health but it’s still a big shock to all that new him. RIP Mr Miller.
Hi All
That is the saddest news we have heard for a long time Derick was a true gent & kept his rates high unlike many of cut throats in this industry, he would always help you out, Derick even lent me a unit when I had one with accident damage.
Deepest thoughts to Lin & the boys.
Regards
Rich & Kay
