They only old king, Harvey, that had a yacht which sank in my memory was Henry the 8th and his Mary Rose.
The address i found intresting in this advert. I never knew there was an airport at Porsmouth ?
Are they referring to an old one from the 2nd World War ?

The corporation owned airport dates from before the war. Airspeed established a factory to build aircraft there in the early 30’s.Airspeed’s chief designer was Nevil Shute Norway who later became a a successful novelist. Post war,the airport was used mainly for Channel Island services but in the late 1960’s (67 ?) a period of prolonged heavy rain made the grass runway heavy going & Channel Airways damaged 2 aircraft landing on the soft surface.
The corporation closed the airport & it was redeveloped as an industrial estate[/Portsmouth Airport (Hampshire) - Wikipedia

Hi Dean,
I remember Mitchell Self Drive a good family firm, Harry Mitchell and his family lived next door to us in Southsea. He was a great sailor and always talked of sailing round Cape Horn, after he retired he set off in his 40ft “Hornblower” with 19 other yachts from South Carolina on a round the world race in September 1994, on March 2nd 1995 his emergency beacon went off and sadly after much searching he was never found and was presumed lost at sea a sad end to a larger than life character.
The industrial estate where the airport used to be is next to the Eastern Road, on the right as you come into Portsmouth, and covers a large area.
Regards
Richard
Thanks for the post Richard, thats a shame about Harry.

From what i’ve found out about Wallbridges they were in North Baddesley, maybe Romsey earlier or both ?
There yard was in St Andrews close, behind the house, it was run by Mrs Walbridge and her stepson Ernie Brompton so don’t know if theres a Harris connection but I believe Harris Tspt were in NB as well all a long time ago that’s the best I could come up with.
