Long Departed Southampton Hauliers (Part 1)

Jimski:
Hi all been reading an article in the Trucking Magazine Poland now tops the charts for foreign trucks on British roads last year 270,000 of them came to Britain followed by the Netherlands 199,000 then 136,000 Germans and 123,000 French and I think I passed them all on the M25 today !!! :sunglasses:  What’s going on??
Gone are the days …

Regards Jimski

Jim when you and me and every body else on here first started doin this job, except Fergie cos he started a bit sooner than us, about 50% of traffic goin out of this country was on British trucks, not so today i suspect its probabley only 10% now. The thing is the British government are still delaying putting a charge on foreign trucks using our roads just in case we upset our european compatriats. To hell with that Mr cameron get your ■■■ in gear and charge the bas====s like they charge us, dont have a complicated system charge every truck £100 where ever it goes. They get away with murder over here and they are laughing in our faces just the same as they do about the London ban. We have today gone back into a second resession, not that i had noticed that we had come out of the first one. Theres only one thing to do Jim get me elected as prime minister and i assure you i could sort this farce out within three months, god you got me fired up now mate but i cant be the only one thinking like this. PS. Duff can be my secretary as hes got plenty of time on his hands and is gettin fed up with golf as well, and he told me he knows a bit about transport.

Well now Buzzer I think Pat would make a good secretary  it also went on to say about the Stack system they are planning a 70 acre truck park for purely the stack system but didn’t know who would pay for it ! The cost being 25to30million and the Kent County Council is hoping that it will come from "the planned road user charge to be imposed on foreign trucks " so Buzzer your wish is coming !!!

Regards Jim

Hi Guys…I’ve cleared this post with Rikki the moderator.

Back at Christmas, Liz’s ex , and the father of my two step children, collapsed at his home…rushed to hospital, and was found to have 3 brain tumours. He died within 2 months of his diagnoses…

Liz has been running for various charities for the past few years, and one of them she is doing this year, is a 5km run in aid of “The Rowans Hospice”, who cared for him at his home for the last few days of his life.

Until you find yourself in the situation where you or your family need these people, you don’t fully appreciate the work that they do, and the support they give, to both patients, and families.

I know things are tight money wise for all of us at the moment, but if you could just spare a pound or two in support of her run, it would be very much appreciated ……

Although he wasn’t directly involved with road transport, he was an Immigration officer and worked the Soton to Le-Harve ferries , (and other French ports) so, it’s possible that several of you older continental lads, can remember doing immigration on the boat, and the little blue immigration slips, could well have come across him, so, in a way, there is a Southampton connection.

You can make donations here :- justgiving.com/LizPhillips-Run4France

Many thanks

Dave and Liz.

Now then Fergie i only put that fact in because it was true and i did not want to upset an elder knight of the road, you should be proud of your heritage just like Mappo is about his collection of tight shorts and he has just had a new pair donated by Richard and Angie for his birthday.

I think he had moved to Botley when he retired ? Great bloke though, like all the lads from “Soton” past and present!!!,well a bit of sincere soft soaping/BS. never did any harm did it?,although in this case false as a nine bob note !!! Cheers Dennis.
