Hello Soton Boys. Safely back from Spain, The alcohol testing part of the trip went very well.
San Miguel, Cruzcampo,Mahou, and Estrelle ■■■■ products were on top form. Well done Spanish brewers.
The dodgy disguise clobber seemed to work well, except for a few furtive glances from a geezer in a
rough Tapas bar, somewhere out in the sticks near the town of Albox. He might have thought it was Mappo,
returning to settle an old bar tab from way back,so I swigged my beer and did a runner,He was much bigger
than me anyway. Couldn’t have paid him, I only had Euros, no Pesetas. Tim Walker has been busy putting
even more pictures on the Robert Baillie thread, Thank you Tim, Also to Buzzer for posting some of them
on this site. Regards, Ray Smyth.

Sorry, got a bit wrong on my last post. The “Robert Baillie” pictures put on by Buzzer are not on this
thread, they are on the “Roping and Sheeting” thread, and also on “Past And Present” Regards, Ray

Hi Ray, glad to hear you made it back safely from Espana, seems you almost bumped into my old mate Juan Diego in Albox.
I didn’t realise at the time, all those years ago that i had to pay him for a night out with his friend Julieta…
I did wonder why she was so errr friendly… :unamused: …Anyway all,s well that ends well as they say…

Hi Rich,

Here is another photo of the Maggie, Ian’s memory is very good as it did involve the Dartford Tunnel, and Charlie, I have to protect my clients rights to anonymity, although if you could see inside the cab there are quite a few Benson cigarette packets :unamused:
Thankfully no one was badly injured, due to the fact the steering column came back into the drivers seat, the driver did speak in a falsetto voice for several days, and rumour has it he had to have it cut off and the ends tucked in.

Regards
Richard

Hi all,
A little while back someone talked about the Redlynch area and a name came to mind, Brian Hobart.
He was an owner driver for a while ( I supplied a 290 88 ) he lived in Whiteparish and later drove coaches for Buddens, ( ok, I know coaches are a dad word here ) but anyone have any idia what happened to him.

Just something to move us back up the page, Im sure Fergie 47 + Trunker08 will recognise the crew

Possibly AUU altered to crew cab and into a artic?
Person on right Barry Johnson? Mated him a few times.
Chap on the left quite possibly a young Chris Hill?
The modification was after my time!

Trunker08

Hi MIck sent you pm

Dispatcher,
Hi Chris, replayed to pm, cheers,

Dispatcher,
Hi Chris, replayed to pm, cheers,

While we’re on the subject of Hills of Botley, here’s one I came across on F/book

Mappo found on FB your having a laugh, that was your first job when the government granted you a licence (no test back then) Buzzer.

Ha ha now that wasn’t nice was it JD :open_mouth: …especially considering you,re older than me…

Dare I say the two drivers have parked up and gone for “refreshments”!!
Wonder were that picture was taken, and why piggy backed?

A youthful Chris Hill… :unamused: and perhaps Jimmy Purkess (sp)…Monty would know for sure, but he’s too tight to pay for the Internet  …which he can’t work anyway,
