I believe AUU was exported to Africa, the pusher is not
TOT it is a pioneer recovery (trade plates)
TOT unfortunatly met the gas reaper.

Just something to move up the page

Trunker08 not sure your on this one, may be Pete Mansbridge, others will recognise location

Dispatcher,
Nice picture,don’t recognise the location?
Well rememmeber all the timbers!!! and also Pete Mansbridge,

Old A34 a bit tight

Think I have lost the plot?
Don’t recall a bridge on a34? Guess some one will put me right!!!
Yep,touch tight!!

Yes there was a bridge on the A34 could take you there where it as right now, when they put the new road in that bypassed Whitchurch (the old road runs parallel were that ends going North the road has a curve to the right and just round that the bridge was on your RHS but think it is now demolished and the old road is just used by the farmer.
If my memory serves me well when you went north as soon as you went under the bridge the road went sharp right which was a pain in a truck as you slowed for that and then it was an incline to try and get your speed back up, or am I completely bonkers Help ! ! ! Buzzer. 67yo.

Mere boy now you got me thinking, only other place siminlar was A32 but dont recognise background would have been trees,
I dont recall using A32 with high loads north of West Meon Hut

Up and down the A34 a lot in the '60s and driving cartransporters, tight bridges were a hazard and I would have remembered that one, the dogleg that Buzzer mentions I remember well.
Had another thought, that bridge reminds me very much on the one coming out of Salisbury on the A30, I have a photo of it somewhere, most have a look, if it is, there is a story attached.
Oily

Well chaps I have done a bit of digging and usually the reason for a bridge was a rail line and I have found a map which would put a line where I said I recall the bridge, bearing in mind a lot of these lines were axed by Beaching in the early sixties this this could have been the line between Salisbury and Basingstoke as per attached map, detective Buzzer.

Sounds very feasable Buzzer. However I don’t remember that view. The open fields don’t ring a bell. However I have been wrong so many times on here. If I’m wrong. Sorry. If I’m right. I told you so!
Please put me right. Is there anyone out there older than me who knows the correct answer?

Well I’m at a loss, I can not place the bridge at all, I have checked old and fairly recent map book, shows rd going over rail line,? Presume bridge had been knocked down?
I traveled that rd many a time as a mate, then driver so must of been by it!
Thanks for imfo one and all!!

I’m sorry, me and Jimski have to sit this one out…not sure about Mappo tho’!

There were three bridges between Whitchurch and Newbury, very narrow as I remember, that went under the old Winchester-Newbury line but that line was single track so the bridges were fairly short unlike the photo. Probably the most famous bridge on the line was the Hockley viaduct (now a cycleway). I do remember when first using the A34 (1967) those three bridges were too narrow for lorries to pass another one going the other way but there was much less traffic then so no real problem.
