Hi Mark who was the artist ■■

Hi Jim, the artist is Phillip Thompson, I used to work with him. He mostly does animals but did the Bakers one for me as a bit change and a challenge, I think he did an excellent job and like I said, the photo doesn’t do it justice!

His website is phillipthompson.co.uk

Regards, Mark

Hello Mark
That is a great Painting! How big is it and do you have it on display? i am allowed one small photo of my lorry in our lounge :frowning:
Ive spoken to dad and told him of the sad passing of Phil.Has dad said there cant be many of the old Bakers drivers still alive dads 70 now.
Dad spoke highly of Phil said he was one of the better drivers just got on with the job!
Ive been exstreamly busy of late all will be reviled hopefully next year!!
Regards Jacko

Hi Jacko,
The painting is 36" by 24" and yes, it’s on display in the dinning room! I’m not sure if my wife appreciates it so much, but I think I’m lucky really,
as I have managed to get several paintings of wagons, traction engines and Land Rovers on display around the house!!
It was very sad about Phil, I had mentioned about your granddad to Phil the last time I was down to visit him.
Jimski may have something you would be interested in soon…

Regards,

Mark

Jim Squibb bought that F88 from Hammer, would have been in the early '70’s, 72/73 perhaps, some where on these 400 odd pages is a photo of Jim sat in it, still in Hammer colours, prior to painting…
