Long Departed Southampton Hauliers (Part 1)

As already mentioned by the attendees, great to see everyone again. Pat Scorey, Steve Matthews, Monty, Terry Weekes, Gazzer, Charlie, Gaz IOW but to name a few. Gerbil, Cluey, Mr & Mrs Evans I did leave a drink on the bar for you but as Charlie already mentioned… he was the last to leave and was spotted pouring drinks from the bar into a 20ltr Jerrican.

On a turn round.

Horry:

Harry. I slipped up a bit with the jerrycan. I got it out of Mappos boot. Forgot it was the one he used together with a length of hose pipe. Still had diesel in it. Made the drink taste funny. However I forced it down. Cleaned me pipes out a treat. Regards Charlie

Horry:
Good morning. Baldrick… I found this bunch in the garden, claiming they were still waiting to clear customs. A likely story but as always, got where they had to be when then had to be.
L-R Steve ‘Rocky’ Cherrett, A young whippersnapper truck washer, Richard Green and the Evergreen TIR Tone. Great to see you gents.

Cliff, lovely to see you after a very long time, you are looking really well mate. Apologies for the sideways picture but I cannot figure it out this early in the morning!

Take care, H ■■

Well done Horry… You’ve saved the day yet again.
You must have a very long left arm to reach all the way to round Mappos shoulder. Is that a result of all that trailer washing?

I did hear that there were some other photos in existence of Charlie one arriving in his Swedish car with a Swedish bird ( Britt something or other ) but he ordered them destroyed lest Rose saw them… The old rascal.

I’ve sent you a PM old fruit. LYLT Balders.

As ever with the camera lens, I let the side down by only bringing my phone that was with 15% battery life and consequently not fit for purpose!!!
Great to see all of you, helping Richard Green out with names to people in photos, Richard Maidments assortment of Hampshire related photos and a guy I don’t know with a wodge of Rawlings photos that came about as I was about to leave.
Charlie, what happened to my French and Italian permits I entrusted to you to sell? Big money there in the near future! I 'spose R&A’s absence limits the purchase value…
'Kin burgers were a bit steep…know what I mean?
We will have a small gathering in November in Kingsworthy when I am back…dinner on a round table. Booking essential.
Great to meet Mr.Luxton. Thanks for being there for “Cornish Steve”.
Hasta la vista muchachos.

I was sorting out my many boxes of old lorries badges on a wet windy Saturday afternoon as you do,
did a montage for a few old friends,
QC Richard, Gary B & other Volvoist & Italian journeymen, Where do the CA originate from?

Hi All,

Sorry John I think Mappo is correct, I haven’t been on here much as it’s been busy handling several abuse claims, while I’m on just to mention Tony your claim is not going very well against the BBC, Nigella Lawson says she didn’t abuse you and will you stop sending her begging letters.

Thanks for the montage Jeremy,I wondered where the badges went off my motors when I was parked in Lorraines !! Hopefully the Sardinia Mafia whose trailer the Cagliari plate came off do not look at Trucknet :unamused: :unamused:

Sorry to miss the bash but we had a family bereavement so we didn’t feel up to it.

Regards
Richard

Richard…firstly allow me to offer my condolences re your family bereavement…

Sorry to hear my claim is not going so well with the BBC, :open_mouth: :open_mouth: could you please reassure me that your
Terms are still ’ no win no fee '…my pension pot from working for you and JD is a bit stretched at
the moment… :unamused: :unamused:

Finally, as Cagliari has been mentioned here is a pic of me at said place…

Tony
You might be right about Cagliari as I tipped Beer there on LTS & was a little late getting back to the port but the boat was still there loading but the gits wouldn’t let me on so I had to wait 36 hrs for the freight boat back to Genoa, which I could’ve rowed back faster. I loaded back the empties 113 m/t beer kegs which I got them to seal so LTS couldn’t load anything else so flew back up over the mountain coming home.
As for the plate I properly got it off a trailer in the port,
QC Richard its was lying on the floor if anyone asks.
Accept my sympathy for your family loss.
regards
Jeremy

“Attention, vehicles manoeuvering. It is dangerous and prohibited to stop on the ramp and the vicinity of the stessa!”

Those VOLVO and Maggie badges would furnish you with some folding stuff on Fleabay.

Hello Soton Boys. I am off to Spain next Thursday 15th for 2 weeks. I am not going there
for an enjoyable holiday, I am going in my official capacity as “Independent Quality Control Officer”
for the Spanish brewing industry. Of course, I will be incognito, I will be disguised as a British
tourist, Knotted hanky on the head, Replica “Southampton F.C.Football shirt”, Shorts, Sandals,
and Black socks. Some of the older bartenders,on seeing the Sandals and Black socks, may think
Mappo has returned to Spain to settle an outstanding bar tab from years ago.
The products of San Miguel,Mahou, and Cruzcampo will be under strict scrutiny.

Kind Regards, Ray Smyth.

Ray you did not buy that parcel of clothing off Mappo, he told us he sold it but think he’s still got it. Buzzer

PS. You didn’t get a load of window flags with it as well did you and a set of Spanish lights ?

Hi Buzzer, I was hoping to borrow the disguise clobber from Tony as a mate, but he insisted on a hire charge for 2 weeks.
He wants it all back upon my return,so that he can hire it out again and again. He has become a capitalist.
I forgot to mention the dodgy “Syrups/Wigs” that come with it.

Regards, Ray.

Hi Ray, i,m a bit dissapointed that you,ve blown my cover :unamused: :unamused:
I,d told the lads that i had disposed of said clobber…the charges have now been increased as compensation
for the embarrassment you have caused me . :open_mouth:

PS

Dont tell Buzzer about the lights for gawds sake…

PPS

Enjoy your holiday mate… :grimacing:
