Hope you are well, is it the Hindhead Tunnel ? Do you remember the old transport cafe on the A3 near Liphook,it was run by an actor off the TV ? Popular with all the market lads, loading off the Camber,Tom Cobb,Burnetts,Percy Powell,Solly Davies,English Express, etc.
Hola,Senor Kerbut, You are certainly nearer to the location than Richards answer,
I think he was reading his old road atlas upside down. I will give you a clue,
It is further east than where you live. Gracias, Adios,Buenos Nochas, Ray.
Hello Richard, Thank you for your reply, Is the Hindhead Tunnel a single or double bore ?
The last time I travelled the A3 in Surrey, the tunnel wasn’t built.
So here is another clue. The tunnel in the competition is one way traffic, travelling East.
The Westbound bore is about half a mile to the North, parallel to the Eastbound.
Senor Kerbut spotted the Spanish speed limit signs.
I cannot make it to the bash at the Wheatsheaf, because my wife and I are attending
a christening that day. Kind Regards, Ray.

Are you coming to the bash ?

Richard
Nothing to do with lorries, but the cafe run by an actor reminded me of a story told by a chum who had worked in London in the seventies, and often had his lunch in a pub frequented by actors, one of whom was David Kelly, who played the one armed Irishman in Robin’s nest.
The landlord didn’t realise that David actually had two good arms - nor could he figure out where his pies were going, when he could see that David had his one arm holding his pint!
I think the Pylon was on the A3 between Horndean and Petersfield.
Did you used to change horses there ■■
Hope you are well
Regards
Richard
Yes Richard. The Pylon Cafe was on the left after Horndean on the old A3 just before the brow of the hill. Cafe at Liphook? I’m not sure. Give me a clue.On a lighter note
I am applying for my licence back. Got a good chance. So all of you out there on the roads be afraid. Be very afraid. See you on the 28th. Regards Charlie

Charlie,
Both Angie and myself are concerned that if you don’t get your licence back,or the old A55 van won’t start, you will not be able to make the bash. If this should be the case we have had 2 signs made up for you one for the outward journey and one for the return, please feel free to print them off and we suggest a good starting point would be the A31 and away you go,look forward to seeing you.
Richard and Angie. Many thanks for your kind gesture. I’m overcome with emulsion. I have printed them off and laminated them. I shall probably leave on Saturday pm. If I arrive too early then I will sleep in the car park wrapped up in my fly sheet. ( Younger drivers ask your dad what a fly sheet is ) looking forward to see seeing old friends on Sunday. Love to Angie. Regards Charlie Ps the A55 has given up the ghost. I am bidding on a Scania 93.

Rich. Now you don’t get an offer like that every day! I’m packing my case as we speak. I can hardly wait. Can I bring my dog as well?
On an other subject. I have won the auction for a Scania 93. Trying to put up a pic. Regards Charlie
