Hi all hope your all well how did you get on at Gaydon jimmer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi Kev Gaydon went well for me this year although I missed most of the day Saturday I had to go for a scan as I had a lump appear on my neck but that’s another story !!!
I 1st prize for best US which was a Mack R600 Maxidyne I was asked by Jazzandy to have a go at it, from his book “50 shades of Tarmac”
And I got 1st for best Volvo of Geoff Gilbert’s F89 SJL 262S which after Gilbert’s had it Buzzer had it and Mappo used to drive it.

Ray Smyth:
Hello Ray Smyth again. My only picture of a Robert Baillie Atkinson,FPO 13C,on the A58 between Halifax and Rochdale,
returning to Wigan from Bradford, No M62,It was being built at the time. Note the unusual headboard,It had just been
rebuilt with a new cab, following young Mervyn rolling it over on the old A34 near Steventon (Oxon),fully laden with
3000 trays of Guernsey Tomatoes.

Regards, Ray Smyth.

Hello Ray
Made the pic a bit bigger for you…

Small world eh Jim…think there was also a wine depot close by, was it South African Wines ? they had Leyland or AEC Ergo cabs, light red, bordering on pink-ish… Also use to deliver to a wine depot at Testwood, with bottles from Alloa Glass, think they ran AEC’s with tandem axle tankers…maybe they did the bottling for SA Wines…
All along time ago now Jim…

Testwood and I think the name was Williams and Humbert did sherry I think and maybe wine, grey matter strained for that info, Buzzer.

Yep was a long time ago ! :unamused: :unamused:

As old timers go, they don’t get much more senior than Lenny Passingham, whom I caught up with on my last stint in the UK at Hampshire Grain. Lenny is quite happy to tell you he is “78 you know” and still doing part time work for Mid Hants bulk. Formerly of Warrens Alton, subcontracting for Rawlings and STS back in the day!

This puts him in the same class of yore with Mick Hellawell, whom I believe is recovering well from his major operation.

Hello Gazzer That pic brought a smile to my face I remember Lenny well. Good to hear Mick is recovering. Salut Andy

Found this on Facebook sorry if it’s been on b4

That,s my old mate Robin Pike…he and his brother John both worked for Henry Smithers, same time as i did…
John later worked with me at Transport Services and is now retired and living in Italy…
Robin now lives in France and coincidently i was chatting with him just yesterday…
