would you know if you still need to buy a eurovignette for a private 26t horsebox in Belguim/Holland?

Hi mate I am not sure but for what it costs I would get it as a fine would prove to be far more expensive and you know there is no arguing when you get stopped, you pay on the spot or you don’t move and even if you are right and proved at a later date to be so you never get your money back.
My question is why do we not do that when they all come over here, just stop them and ask for a drivers CPC and see how many of them coming here every day have one to show you, not many I bet. Should be turned round and sent back home Buzzer.

No Eurovignette in Belgium now, you have to get a box like the Slovak box and the tolling is a lot more expensive than the few euros the vignette used to cost

Thanks anyway, I bought the vignette in the end as even the EURO-VIGNETTE website could not give a definitive answer but pointed toward any private vehicle over 3.5t needing it so got it in the first Total garage near the pidou just out of the ferry port before the motorway. 750 euro’s for 12 months but cheaper than multiple fines. Its taxed PLG in the UK.

left the forest 07.10 yesterday and had a predicted nightmare around Antwerp ring queuing for the tunnel and got to the destination just before Eindhoven around 18.30 UK time. I left it there as being used in Holland for possibly a year and flew home so just got in. Lovely and back to the office tomorrow! little Jollys like that remind of what I’m missing and when on the Antwerp ring what I’m not missing?

Cheers

Hi all I’ve been speaking to Mark Kempsey ( Phil Dibdens nephew ) who has passed me some pictures of Bakers Transport, some may have been on before apology’s if they have .
I feel a model looming !

Page two?? Where’s all the lads and all the banter boys■■?

I’ll just pick up on a post on another thread. " first load on an artic "
I see you posted Jimski … About Meachers…

My first was whilst at the great training ground that was Lambert Brothers…
I was 21 … Had 2 months experience on 4 wheelers and given my big chance :open_mouth: and the keys to a 180 Atki and 40’ flat…
A load of metal " Swarf " from a Southampton scrapyard to Coalville… Loaded on by magnet and expertly netted by me… a 4 a.m. start the next day and as I recall over 5 hours to get there in those far off days of no motorways or bypasses , and underpowered engines via the obligatory stop for a big brekkie at Jack Hills…

Tipped in a yard with no reversing needed ( phew ) , reloaded the next day . Concrete paving ( again , in a yard no reversing…) arrived back that afternoon to Lamberts with a full load of kerbs and had to reverse into a line of trucks , blind side and on the diagonal with no power steering… Under the watchful eye of the yard foreman and assorted experienced older drivers.
That was the day I started learning…

Reliable they may have been but they were no mountaineers, Buzzer.

Hi all,
Wow !!! what a trip down memory lane this site has given me, great stuff !.
A lot of the trucks I am seeing I sold to many years ago and some i understand are still working, bit like me.
After driving i spent over 30 years selling trucks in and arround Southampton and retired to Scotland in 2007 but after 4 months found myself behind the wheel for a few days a week, sad or what at 70+.
Great site,
Harvey

Harvey first of all welcome to this thread, your name instantly makes me think you worked for Princes commercials in Millbrook but am I right ? if you are that said person you would definitely know me John Davies now retired like you but we are still at it with my two sons running the company.
Also I bought my first new Volvo Globetrotter from Princes from a pimple faced junior Roger Leppard and that was in 1986, we went on to buy over one hundred new Volvo’s through them over the years but now have switched marks to Scania.
Well if you are not the Harvey I am thinking of at least you know a bit of history of Davies International Transport as it is now known. please put me out of my misery and confirm your identity and for whom you sold trucks, regards John Davies aka Buzzer on TNUK.

Great pic JD… Where was that taken? A hundred new trucks from Volvo… Good stuff.
