Tone…
Have been meaning to send you a pm. But life gets in the way sometimes!
I hope you’re well.

What a great fleet Sea Route had. I always wanted to work for them back in the day. Never got on there though.
However , I did do a bit for them in the late 90’s before they crashed and burned.
It was a shambles by then…

U.K. only with worn out trucks barely driveable doing multi drop groupage crap.
Don’t know the history of their demise but always thought it was a great shame…

All good Balders thanks mate, now then Sea Route…when i was there late 70,s early 80,s
it was a cracking firm…good money, good tackle and reasonable work…they were
still at Bevois Valley when i left, and i know they moved to Eastliegh, but i dont know why
they eventually packed in…

Tone did not a man called Cash run the traffic office for SRF of was it Philips he worked for, Cash Amerson or some thing like that he was named sure some one will know but from my memory he was a good bloke , Buzzer.

Yeh he was at Sea Route Buzzer , he was a good lad…when I had my accident and was hospitalised, he came to see me in Glasgow…I believe he went on to selling insurance I think…

i think you will find that the guy you call cash, his real name was Cashmore, also worked for John carter when his company was called CEF TRANSPORT, he then i believe went on to work for SOLENT MILLS in the new dock gate ten,and i was told that he had passed away after committing suicide, but don’t quote me, just in case its not true,i remember him well, as he came down to Italy with me when i had to deliver a large cabin cruiser to the Genova boat show in 1978. :unamused:may have been 1974 :unamused: hope you had a great time with dave Tony and hope you passed my regards on to him.

Hi Bev, hope you,re well mate…
Yes that was his name, Cashmore…shame if he,s not with us anymore.
He certainly did the rounds by the sound of it, as well as the companies you mentioned Bev,
and Sea Route, he also did a spell for Brain Haulage…
He wasn,t everyones " cup of tea " but as i said earlier he was good to me…

Dave Cashmore wasn’t it? Never met the man but Sean Wiggle was his successor, ably assisted by Eric (ex Skillbeech, now at De Rijke in Youngs yard).

Think you,re right with his name gazzer, but he liked to be known as and called Cash…

Hi All…

Have a question… Not truck related but about Southampton certainly.

I have vague memories of a club , owned and ran by a Kiwi whose name I think was Brian something?
This would be in the late 60’s , and 70’s. He was quite a flash character .
Unusual for a Kiwi I know.

It wasn’t just a " Disco " as we knew them then…but a gambling club. It had Roulette tables etc…
In fact, thinking about it , I applied as a trainee croupier …
I remember being sent home with a pile of chips ( not the kind in a bag ) to practice… Got the job at second interview and lasted 2 nights…

International gamblings loss and transports gain eh lads?..
I remember there were some lovely scantily clad girls employed there. Probably not for there ability with maths either.

So… Anyone recall that place?
I also just remembered , he drove an Iso Grifo…

No Tone , that’s not a type of Italian ice cream…

Hi Baldrick, This is my 1st post, however the person you mentioned is Brian Mathieson, who owned the Concorde Jazz Club in Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh.Great times had by all in those days. regards, Stroker.
