I worked for a company in 1990 who undertook the collection of the trucks from Hartshorns the agents both in Stoke and Walsall,these trucks were collected and delivered to a company in Fenton SOT and were garaged whilst awaiting delivery.
The company that supplied the trucks on lease to LRC was called Intertrail.
The trailers were collected from York Trailers at Northalleton ready for the road
The bulkheads from the trucks were removed and signed with durex and refitted the wrong way round no one was allowed into the workshops whilst the trucks were parked up.
At the end of March the the signs were righted and the trucks left Fenton for Chesterton 1 minute after midnight in all a military operation
During that year Intertrail sold off its operation.
I cannot remember how many trucks and trailers there were but the tractors and trailers were delivered in one hit

Volvo F10 Globetrotters, 4x2, reg, G686GFA 687,688,689,690,691,692,693,694,695. Ten of them. 39k each, 60 month contract, 25% residual, (9.8K) At that time Hartshornes balance sheet was not strong enough to support that residual commitment, so the buy back was constructed as a “put option”.
30 York 12metre, air suspended tandem axle box vans, with stainless steel rear frames, (that the paint shop over painted). 14.5K each, 60 month residual at 5.1K. Underwriten by York!
Intertrail was acquired by Wincanton 91, at termination the contract was not renewed, and Dawson Rentals acquired the contract, and the LRC Reg vehicles were supplied. At termination of this contract Christian Salvesen took over on “Contract Distribution”.
After the “buy back” on the G reg F10s, a number were converted by Euroaxles into 6x2s. Cheerio for now.

As anybody got any photos of the London rubber company globetrotters in the LRC livery .Also any information on how many there was in total ? my boss as got L12LRC (DAREN WILLS OF OKEHAMPTON DEVON ) we sort of guess there was around ten but not 100% sure. Some of them went on to stagetruck. The rest went to owner drivers and fleets . somebody must know some info ? we have got a bit of history to the remaining few . Howarths bros have L13,L17 . Herberts have L14 .Daren wills has L12. What happened and where are the rest ? I drove L12 for a week in June and it drives as well as my DAF . Everywhere i went everybody took interest .Please post back i will get some photos put on .

I’m suprised this company hasn’t been mention before, they certainly were a well known bunch, was their depot just off the 406 near Walthamstow
hi ya lads ! i been searching for photos and info on the globetrotters for ages, somethings telling me there was some kind of magazine article on them when they were new i could be wrong . im not sure where they were based . in the stoke thread it says that they had a yard in stoke . i believe that Dawsons originally sold them at milton keynes and again when they were 3 year old. Daren willls bought L12 in 2009 from E M Rogers at Northampton who had 4 in total . the lorry was imaculate with very low kms considering its age . John Rogers would only sell it to Daren on the condition that it wasn’t exported so in MARCH 2010 it was restored to a high standard , in which it still earns a crust most weeks . I will put photos up but havent got a scanner so will ask a friend to do that for me . Come on lads somebody must have photos in there early days very must appreciate anybody that as . ANDREW !

Hiya.I can,t remember where on TN But there ,s half a page about LRC and Howarths two motors.my mate Keith dose the maintainence for Howarths. Howarths have still got one volvo in stage truck colours.

The blue unit on the right is ex LRC…it’s now owned by Peter Lawless from Co.Dublin…He bought it from Stan Robinson
If u contact Dawson rentals Tongwell Milton Keynes they can answer your questions regarding numbers quantities etc as they supplied them all new on contract hire hope this helps they will also have original photos.
